I was just about to ask, why didn't Seattle just put him on injured reserve. This is quite the conundrum here...

Carroll's basically called him damaged goods (in the eyes of their doctors). Doesn't that violate HIPPA rules in some way? I'm sure Malik's camp wasn't thrilled by Carroll's quotes? Or were the quotes vague enough that there was no violation at all?

Someone please enlighten me, I'm really not familiar with how HIPPA works.

If Rosenhaus is still in on McDowell, the Cowboys maybe still in. This is a liability issue as football is a collision sport and the NFL has had a lot of bad press regarding head injuries.

Carroll just said their Doctors couldn't clear him. He didn't give out any medical details.

The players union and the league have guidelines defined in the CBA that allows basic information to be released/discussed which other employers wouldn't be allowed to disclose.

The Seahawks doctors wouldn't clear him but another "group" of doctors did. Was there a serious head injury involved? Unsure of what the injuries were or the severity. Have to trust the Cowboys doctors on this one. I'm sure he wants to play football again but how much risk to playing again? We have very little information.

At the risk of veering off into a Jaylon thread, I would guess the medicals opinions we're about equally distributed between never play again, never be the same if he did play and might be able to return to his former self.

Regardless, unless there is some other underlying issue, the Seahawks must be pretty confident in their medical staff to cut a high draft pick.

Not sure why we couldn't sign him to a minimum contract with incentives and with a medical waiver (i.e., he wont sue the team or league if permanent damage from playing)
