Man, I hope they ditch the salary cap...

According to the ratings provided by the NFL, yes.

Yes, more people tuned in.

No the game was not any more interesting to those people. Anyone not a Dallas fan thought the game sucked.

The novelty has worn off, that's all.

That doesn't expansion into account either.

However, if they did what you wanted, who would be the top teams?

Teams like NE and Pittsburgh. The ones that draft well.

Certainly not Dallas.

There is no way that free agency and the cap go away.

Yeah, Dallas has NEVER been able to draft well.

Are you serious?

I seem to remember us building possibly the greatest team in NFL histroy through the draft....

Like I said, seems like you are pining for past glories.

Just letting you know that Dallas wouldn't be a juggernaut if there was no free agency.

Just letting you know that you have no way of knowing that

Anyone else not have a problem with this?

Yes, I do. Using the Browns as an example is poor, as they have historically had one of the richest, nationwide fan bases in the country. They've never depended on the rest of the league to fill their coffers.

These NE teams would have been lucky to make the playoffs in the pre-cap era.

Since you have a penchant for telling people they have no idea of knowing something, allow me to say, you have no way of knowing that.

Chess is boring as Hell. I want 2-3 GREAT teams, 2-3 very good teams, and a whole lotta bad teams. Thats what the league was before the cap and FA: Several great/good teams that were dynasties and the rest who were trying to get there.

That's great for fans of 2-3 teams, good for fans of 2-3 teams and bad for the NFL.

Not gonna happen.

I think if your going to have FA then you must have a cap. If I had my way there would be no FA and no cap.

That is exactly what I am in favor of!

I don't think the ratings have anything to do with the quality of play.

Did more people really tune in because Dallas was a great team and spanked the Bills 52-17?

I think people are just tired of 2 weeks of inane hoopla leading up to the game, 4 more hours of more inane hoopla leading up to kick-off, and horrific train-wreck half-time shows. Most people just watch for the commericals now, and these are people who don't know an offsides penalty from an onside kick. The quality of play means nothing to them.

What part of having only 3 networks to choose from don't you understand.

The televison environment back in 1971 was so vastly different from what it is now, making a comparison without taking that into account is a joke.

Sure, I do. Name the Dallas teams since 96 that would have won a Super Bowl with home grown players.
