Jeesh even Laidlaw had some jets, looked faster than any of our current bunch in the backfield.

Laidlaw did have sprinters speed. He would have been the fastest RB on a lot of other NFL teams at that time. We had Dorsett, that was the difference. :)

Why did the offensive line stand up and back down like that? Was that a trade mark move or timing thing ? Forgive the ignorance I don't go that far back. But I love it when they do that. Maybe our oline can bust it out on a big drive or something :)

Man, I miss that whole team from the late 70's and early 80's. If we had been able to score a few more points twice against Pittsburgh or even if Roger had not retired early, I think that group would be considered one of, if the not the best, team of all time. Not that White was not great, but I think Roger would have used his magic to get us past those NFC championship games in the early 80's and into the Super Bowl.

Seems like dallas hasn't been able to run screens or stop screens for many years now!

The linemen stood up in sync with the FB and HB shifting. It was designed to make pre snap reads for the DL and MLB harder.

Plus, it looked cool.

Notice how after every score, all they did was give the ball to the ref and then shake hands with their teammates.
They, and everyone else, knew how good they were. They didn't have to celebrate incessantly.
They just kicked your *** on the field and went about their business. Too bad I wasn't alive to watch this greatness in person.

Great observation. I was looking for Raphael to put up the X after his extra point.

The lineman "allowing himself to get roughed up to make the screen look good." THAT IS KEY

Landry was a perfectionist and he laid down the law to his players. You don't see discipline lack that any more.
I started watching the Boys back in the beginning of 1961 with my dad and you sure don't see players or coaches
like that any longer.

Love this. Greatest screen passing team ever. The execution on those teams was so well choreographed. If any of you get a chance watch a complete game on you tube...they were the most exciting team in th NFL.

Amen, Brother! On top of what you mentioned above, how many "celebration injuries" have occurred because of all the silliness? If I'm JG, I break out some of the old film and show 'em first hand how to go about business. But that's just me, a crotchety old man...
Drew sprained his knee one year jumping up and doing a spike.
