Eli Manning just signed a 6 year extention for 97.5 million with a 35 million signing bonus, so including this years salary, the total deal is worth 106.9 million dollar deal making him the highest paid QB in the league averaging 16 million a season.. Makes Romo deal look like a bargain...

I have but one thing to say--LOL

They are "close" to signing, isn't official yet. By the way, it's $97.5 million according to Jay Glazer.

Well it will help them somewhere down the line....

We get better player for less. Sweet deal.
And when the CAP $$$ flutter back from TO's deal we will be sitting pretty.

He makes Romo look like a steal.

watch him struggle without Burress.I really think they will struggle offensively this year.

It's easy to scoff, but the Giants know for a fact they can win a Super Bowl with him at the helm, and that makes it a lot easier to pay a guy big money. Personally, I don't think Eli is that great, but who knows where they'd be without him.

I am curious to see how Hakeem does. I think he was a good college WR and might do well in the pros although it might take him some time as a rook.

Even with that said, I can't see making Eli the highest paid QB in the league.

As long as they can run, they'll contend. It isn't like Manning is the triggerman for their offense like Brady, even though he will be paid more.

Ouch.

He is an above average QB with a SB ring who is still young. I don't see how we can laugh at the giants, even though it is a pretty big contract.

Brady just wanted his fair share. He would rather take the pay and win than sacrifice potential other players he could have.

Big money for Eli. Good for him. When all is said and done, salarywise, he may end up being the highest paid player of all time.

I guess Manning is not feeling the recession. Make me wonder where is the end? When is enough, enough.

The sentiment among most fans is that it is high but they/we are still happy to have him locked up.

He may not be the best QB in the league but he is also not a QB you let go to free agency.

They Giants are in position to sign him big now but IMHO, it is not beneath Manning to restructure down the road if it was necessary for siging key players or FA's.

That sounds understandable ...... and in reality that contract is no more ridiculous than the one we gave Barber or Romo compared to what they have accomplished.

Restructuring just means more guaranteed money. He would be stupid not to restructure if they needed cash, unless he wanted to force the teams hand, and leave the team.

Put me down on the list that thinks this is a mistake.

Eli is a good quarterback - good, not great.

He's being paid great quarterback money.

He played his best football two years ago down the stretch and did enough to win a championship, but even then, he didn't play great quarterback.

I'll be very interested to see how he does minus Burress and Toomer.

He looked very average the final 5 games of last season.
