Marinelli has more talent and depth along the DL than he has ever had since becoming the Cowboys DC. The way I see it, the DL is his baby, and if it under performs its all on Marinelli.

If the DL isn’t performing near a top 5 level by the eyeball test (stats can lie) he really needs to be put out to pasture!!!

The DL has pretty much performed above their talent level since he’s been here. They’ve played pretty well with the Hayden’s and Selvie’s of the world. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t play well with more talent.

I wouldn’t worry about the DL.

There's still some projection here because not many of them have proven to be great talents. Lawrence has, and Quinn was but is coming off a so-so-season. I like the potential of what we've got, but it's not like we can say Hill should be an eight-sack DT, Hyder will play at his 2016 level or Quinn is the same player he was when he had 19 sacks in 2013.

Big part of Marinelli's success on D last season can be traced back to the addition of Richard as secondary coach. He's helping the old man look good.

Let’s see...

We have D-Law, who’s posted one truly outstanding season (2017) in his first 5yrs, a declining Robert Quinn, who hasn’t registered 10 sacks since 2014, a few halfway decent journeymen (Collins, Crawford, Woods) and some yet-to-be-proven and/or wait-and-see guys.

Yeah...we’ve got the makings of the second-coming of the Doomsday DL, fer sure.

If anything, the way they’ve overperformed with lesser talent in recent years, I expect them to be the strength of the team this season now that we finally have both talent and depth there. Especially if Crawford and Gregory catch breaks on the suspension front.

Richard made the secondary actually perform decently. A bad secondary can make any defense look bad. Marinelli has been awesome for the D-line's performance and now that there is talent across that board with a decent secondary, this should be a great D.

Still hoping Richard is calling the plays. Marinelli will probably always cap out as a great line coach.

So true.

You got to love them though. Give them even a little talent and it becomes the OMGTEHBESTINZTALEAGUE!

The DL has some serious question marks and probably undermanned at DT.

I find it hilarious that in the middle of the team’s most profound resurgence in recent history defensively, the defensive coordinator’s job has incessantly been called into question.

What is he in charge of again?

I'm sure he doesn't eat grass and putting him in the pasture seems kinda mean. I understand what you're saying though verd

I'm more concerned about his scheme than the talent. Hopefully Richard will take over the play calling. Totally take it over.

Richard did that in the Rams game according to reports on here. I didn't like those results at all

I take it you're not a fan

Talking about "accountability" in an organization where the GM has the job for life is kind of comical. His mistakes are never accountable. He just hires the next bunch. If they fail, he hires another bunch...
