Agreed.

I know it was a couple of years ago but, even now, I still have nightmares about the "Hambrick-Anderson-Cason" 3-headed monster.

:eek::

Oh we all do. But our stable of young backs has me so excited and not as worried as I usually would be about injuries to the position.

Now, if we could only get a 5th or 6th for trading Anthony Thomas. :)

Yeah, the same guy who goes for it on 4th and 2 on his own 35. Who decides after Bledsoe had a crummy day last week, he should still pass it with 30 seconds left instead of playing for OT. Not sure where the conservative tag comes from from just running the clock out in the 4th.
The conservative tag comes from exactly that. You don't run the clock out while the other team is within reach. You keep playing your brand of football.

Jimmy did the same thing in his days and no one said he was too conservative. Parcells ain't any more conservative than your typical NFL coach.
I did. I've never liked prevent offense or prevent defense and I don't give a flying crap who the Head Coach is. It could be my father and I wouldn't condone it.

But..... playcalling aside, you could bring in one of the nation's top college coaches and Jones wouldn't show him the respect he would Parcells in roster management. Once we lose Parcells, we are in danger of losing the team, because let's face it, the main reason the Cowboys were so bad in the late 90's, early 00's was because of some of the worst drafting in the NFL.
I don't know where you've got it in your head that I want Parcells gone or am riding him out of town. No idea at all.

I also don't agree that once he leaves the world stops turning.

I am a Coaching matters guy. Always have been. Always will be. However, when that great coach (and make no mistake about it, Parcells is great) plays prevent instead of going for it I am going to hate it. If the game is out of reach. I am all for it. You give the other team a chance at a 3 and out stop and you might as well hand them all of the momentum. We've got 2 losses to prove this.

It's not hard Biz. We win = genius.

We lose = game passed him by.

Not "again," he always has been.

It's just that some posters were too busy being imbecilic to notice.

Jeff Ireland will be handling our drafts when parcells is gone

Remember we have no depth at RB because the all mighty Nors says so. We need to draft another top back next year. Julius, Barber, and Thompson aren't enough.

My goodness, just to think that a couple of weeks ago, Barber was a bust. Remember how he was fumble rpone, ran as slow as A-train, and thank goodness Tyson Thompson was here to offset the ridiculous pick that Dallas made. I remember...

I love the swings of emotion on these message boards.

LMAO! I remember some of them distinctly, "Marion is only on the roster because he was a 4th round pick", well duh, look at him now lol too funny

My only complaint with Parcells' drafting is, "Where the hell was he in 2004?" The 2003 and 2005 draft, however, are amazing.

The 2004 draft is not good, but its also one of the reasons that the 2005 draft is great. Consider that our #1 became JJ and Spears, and that looks a lot better at the top. Crayton was looking like a real find before he broke that ankle. Reeves is a decent enough 4th CB. Its not an A+ draft, but its probably a B+.

Admittedly Rogers and Thornton are mistakes, but I'm still willing to give Peterman an in progress tag.

I don't know about how bad 2004 was if you count it this way:

1: Spears - starting to play better
2a: Jones - has potential game breaking ability
2b: Rogers - bust
3: Peterman - undecided
4: Thornton - bust for us - on the 49ers squad
5: Ryan - broke his foot, on the PS
7: Reeves - nickel safety
7: Jones - STer
7: Crayton - playing well before injury
UDFA: Fowler - backup LB
UDFA: Copper - STer

So I count what looks like 3 pretty good players. Not great but not terrible either.

A B+? No sir. Rogers, Peterman, a trio of cornerbacks that we havn't heard from since, a tight end who's never seen the field... Except for Julius and Crayton, that was an ugly draft. C at best.

I disagree. Spears is part of the 2005 draft. His pick is not retroactive. We could have used a supremely talented first rounder last year, but Parcells decided to forgo one for, in essence, a second rounder and a 5th rounder. All Parcells did was waste a year of development. Besides, Julius could have been had very easily without trading for a second 2nd round pick.

I love the Barber pick and think he's gonna continue to be a good player.

That said, I still would have loved to have gotten Ryan Moats.
