Nice draft-love fest and all, and the drafts have been looking up, but I am pretty sure that Barber was a Jerry Jones pick. I seem to recall Jerry talking about how the scouts wanted Canty bad, but he thought Barber was a steal there too. He won that arguement. So then he goes and works the phones to trade with Philly to get Canty anyway before other unnamed teams snag him in the fifth round.

No matter who did it though, it sure seems golden for the Cowboys right now....

You got it backwards argle, Jerry almost threw a fit when we passed on Canty to select Barber, he said that he was going to kill someone if we missed out on Canty. Also for what it's worth Drew Henson is the wildcard of this already phenominal draft (3rd) if he proves legit, this will go down as the best draft ever!

The conservative tag comes from exactly that. You don't run the clock out while the other team is within reach. You keep playing your brand of football.

I did. I've never liked prevent offense or prevent defense and I don't give a flying crap who the Head Coach is. It could be my father and I wouldn't condone it.

Even Jimmy Johnson called Parcells's move to go for the throat with 30 seconds left last week with Bledsoe an aggressive move and called out folks who say he's too conservative. I saw the Cowboys blitz as much as they always do in some of those games where we lost the lead. I felt blown coverage and a worn out defensive line that wasn't applying as much pressure had more to do with anything. Pass interference on Glenn, Roy and Glenn in the Washington game, etc.... I don't think Parcells is any more conservative than most NFL coaches, we just have a young team that has blown these close games more than most teams. We still had Cundiff and it probably wouldn't even be an issue, since most of those games wouldn't have been on the line if we had a kicker who made his field goals.

I don't know where you've got it in your head that I want Parcells gone or am riding him out of town. No idea at all.

Not saying that all. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Talking about the folks who are all on Parcells as senile, conservative or whatever tag they find. Even with a winning record this season and turning around what was one of the worst franchises in the NFL, I feel like folks still want him out of town sometimes. Fickle fans we have. :)

I definately don't think that Barber has supplanted Jones as the starter, but I do believe this is the exact situation that BP wants with his RB's.

MBIII will be the third down back, he can pick up the blitx, run a nice draw and is very good catching out of the backfield and it gives Jones a rest every know and then.

I remember early in the year BP saying that it was hard to take JJ out of the game when he needed a rest and now he can do that without feeling he is giving up much. Not only that , but whn MBIII comes in on 3rd and 3-5, the defense cannot be sure whether it is a run or pass.

It is exactly what BP is searching for!!!

JJ was getting worn out playing 60-70 plays early in the season. Now with Barber able to take care of third and long, and spotting JJ, he will get cut down some and be fresher in the 4th. Now I just hope he decides to ignore BP's negative ydg rant and go where the hole is- no matter if it is where its supposed to be or not.

Myself I could not have asked for more from Barber. After a shaky training camp and pre-season I was starting to have some doubts about him, the guy seemed lost at times and was losing the ball. What I saw over these last 2 games is what I was hoping to see when we drafted him, he gets my game ball. Congratulations on a great game Barber and keep up the hard work.

Parcells is a draft genius. after several years of mostly busts from the late 90's we finally have a real draft guy, although hes busted on a guy like Rogers, he engineered that bills trade which imo was a big steal, and has drafted guys like barber, jones in the 2nd and 4th round, very smart. Ware also looks like a resounding hit, Spears is now starting and doing better and better. drafting like that leads to big wins, and maybe a superbowl if he keeps it up.
