Marion Barber signing going to come back and hurt us

Ware is a totally different subject.. Ware is the special player. Barber is not a every down back. RB's average about a 3 year career. The way Barber runs is not a smart business to sign him to a large long term deal.. Name a running back that got a large long term deal that his club doesnt regret..
i think that's the key.

running backs aren't worth a big deal. it's been proven time and time again.

better to spend the money on a good oline where guys last forever.

1. He isn't the attitude on the offense 2. He doesn't put fear into defenses when he fumbles alot and can't break tackles 3. On third and short he never picks up the first down 4. He always quits 5. He doesn't produce anywhere.

Barber cant break tackles? He never picks up a firstdown? He quits?

Do you have mental problems?

probably people like you...

if they had traded him or let him go, people would be going ape over it, and dont try to deny it

Jones just cant win with some of you people regardless of what he does.

What has he won without Jimmy. Don't tell me 1995, since that was Jimmy's team.

What did Jimmy win without Jerry?

The recipe for success needs to be something like this:

Felix 10 touches (I'm concerned about his durability)
Choice 10-15 touches
Barber 10-15 touches

in that order or mixing Felix and Choice with some Barber on short yardage situations. I don't care about what we are paying specific players, we should be more concerned with winning..

yes, in hindsight it wasn't smart. but nobody has a crystal ball.

Knowing how deep the RB position was for the draft, a team like New England would have franchised him for this year and then let him go.

Jerry falls in love with his players and overpays them. That is his biggest fault besides many. You don't lock in all your players. There needs to be a revolving door and let the players be on edge.

And that very reason is why he's such a horrible GM in many aspects! In this day and age the only way to get players attention is to withhold the money from them because sadly it's become a grab what you can league. I think you have to tag some players and make them earn their money.

Sadly, I believe so too. I just hope he doesn't dangle Choice. Choice has a very bright future.

I'd take young legs over seasoned legs at running back in the NFL.

sorry guys I don't think all 3 running backs stay with us this year, someones gotta go, I think Jerry will dangle that carrot later in the year

This will not be a popular opinion, but Barber gives us the best trade value. Barber would get the Cowboys at least a 2nd and most likely a 1st round pick. Felix has too much "wow" for Jones to trade, and Choice still has a lot to show for some team to want to give anything more than a 4th for him. I think we stick with all three for at least this year. Then after that, Jerry may take at look at Barber and Choice and make a long term decision based on what is best for the team. If Jerry falls in love with someone in the 2010 draft, like a Michael Crabtree, then I could see Jones sending Barber elsewhere and letting Jones and Choice carry the load.

DUMB! His average is going to be hurt when we cant block and hes tackled in the backfield. We won a game cant remember which one but we handed it to him every play the last drive to win the game.

I wish this team had about 15 more Marion Barbers.

He is everything that is right about Football.

After seeing what the Panthers, Titans, and Giants have done with a multi- back attack, I will guarantee you that, not only will all three be back, but they will be the focal point of the offense (Roy Williams and Terrell Owens be damned). The best thing that could happen to this team, in general, and Tony Romo, specifically would be a dominant running game.

You want to make Witten, Owens, and Williams TRULY unstoppable? Quit making them the focal point of the offense. When Jones, Barber and Choice are chewing off chunks of your *** at 4-5 yards a clip, that trio of receiving threats truly ARE unstoppable.

A pass happy offense rarely wins it all (yes it's happened, and it's an exception not a rule). I'm sure you've all heard the saying that a "a run game travels well". Nothing could be more true in the late stages of a season and the playoffs. A solid running game could care less whether or not the wind is blowing or if it's snowing. When it's your bread and butter there's a lot less "adjusting" that needs to be done with your game plan.

Keep all three and run em until their legs fall off.

That was the "must win" Commanders game.

Tomlinson averaged only 3.8 yc this season, and he had the highest rated passer all season.. Was he a mistake?

LT always gets hurt down the stretch, letting Turner go might be the mistake if they lose to the steal-ers...

Maybe we had better just stop. We as a collective fanbase AND along with owner may know nothing. And lo 'n behold, the coaches may just know more. 13-3 with Julius Jones as the starter and Barber backing him up.........9-8 since MBIII took over last January.

This is what WE wanted.

We called for the big, flashy guy. Jerry liked that same "flashy" and the coaches then damned.

Look at all of us...Just like Jerry.:

Nope I never wanted Marion to start in fact I thought we over paid and no his contract is not friendly 12 million Bonus 16 mill guaranteed on a 7 year contract it is not until like year 4 when his slary matches his contract acceleration if you cut him and that is around 4-5 million it is a boat anchor around the teams neck

His deal was a 7 year 45 million contract so his signing bonus was prorated out is like 1.7million a year

Not sure how accurate but Rotoworld has the contract breakout like this

5/20/2008: Signed a seven-year, $45 million contract. The deal contains $16 million guaranteed, including a $12 million signing bonus. 2009: $620,000, 2010: $3.86 million, 2011: $4.25 million, 2012: $5.75 million, 2013: $6.25 million, 2014: $7 million, 2015: Free Agent

this thread is unbelievable....some people will turn on anyone.....this guy has over 3000 yards and 36 tds in 4 years and 3 years of that he was a back up.....the other year he missed games from injury......so he struggled this season...didnt everyone on offense? he might be the toughest, hard working, high character (lord knows we need them) player we have.....

also Jerry has been watching NY with their 3 headed monster at RB..combine that with what he saw this season needing all 3 due to injury........they all 3 will be here next season........

everyone should stop looking for the quick easy fix...........we cant get rid of every player who didnt please all the fans on every game day

Why do Cowboy fans always have to emberass themselves.

MB3 maybe the best all around back in the league.

He does everything extremely well. Block, catch, and run.

The guy is the pulse for our offense.

He has a nose for the end zone. Good luck stopping Dallas in the red zone.

He does need his 1st half touches limited in order to get the full effect from this guy.

I have no problem with him starting. Especially with Rookies on our roster.

But having MB3 for the next 7 years is not a bad thing at all.
