Mark Sanchez may get released

Hey, Laufenberg will be done with pretend games this weekend.

If they do not feel comfortable with Showers at #2 then get a vet but Prescott should be QB1. No better time to find out what we've got than now. If he shows promise as the heir apparent, great, we can focus on the D in the draft and FA. If not, great, we know we do not have that guy yet. But think of the advantage if we do have him and can focus on the D. And if Romo played would we know?

That hit changed my perspective from 2016 to 2017 and beyond. It is all about the future now. We've been wondering about the window and how long it will be open. I think we can stop that now.

After watching just how clumsy and slow Romo was on that play tells me this was going to happen soon anyway. We are actually better off that it happened in that game than in one of the first two. No way DCs were going to just let him stay in the pocket and that OL is only the best run blocking one, not the best pass protection. At least Prescott can move and protect himself.

I don't care what they or Romo say, he is done. He's more of a liability than asset because of his health. He was great fun to watch and I wish he could have had a better playoff record but it is time to close the book on the Romo years and open it on the Prescott year...........and hope there are more years to come. And on the very bright side, man, this is going to be one young offense. Remind anyone of any other young offenses?

Agreed. Tony is at the end. It is time to move on. Prescott could be the answer. Too me its far too soon to say. But, he should get a shot this year. The club needs a veteran also to fill out the roster and provide a little security. This OL and running game deserve a young stud QB ASAP. I really hope its Prescott. Time will tell.

Honestly, I think Showers is better than Sanchez.

And I respect your opinion. You may VERY well be right. But if so, then Sanchez might be the 3rd stringer until Romo gets back in 6-8 weeks. Dak and Showers are CHEAP in terms of thier Cap hit. Sanchez is more, but he's competent and solid. Decent guy, average QB (at best) that can hand the ball off and hit some short and intermediate throws. Think of a right handed Kellen Moore with a stronger arm. Decent analogy and very true IMO.

I wouldn't pick anyone up until after week 1. No need to guarantee the salary for a guy that may only stick around a few weeks.

Sanchez = solid? Well, he is solid throwing as many ints as tds.

56.7 comp %, 74.3 qb rating. 86 tds, 84 ints.

Sanchez is .... competent and solid.

I would rather see Showers because he isn't a proven loser yet. Sanchez is a proven loser. He's a laughingstock, a dunce reputation. Rather go with the unknown than the known.

Rather sign Ponder (9ers will cut him or Kam) because already knows Norv's system. And Ponder is backup at best, but Sanchez is a proven dud who just finds new ways to lose.

You mean Linehan not Norv. Ponder didn't take a single snap last season and played very little in 2014 where he had no TD's, 2 INT's and a passer rating of 45.8. If you give Sanchez a running game you have a chance with him. A couple of years ago with Philly on Thanksgiving he had a good game against us with the help of McCoy running the ball all over us. If you put him in a position where he has to throw a lot he'll turn it over.

Sure, if beggars only have 1 qb to choose from. Pretty sure they will be more vets when cuts come besides Sanchez.

Right, but you're picking somebody out of the kiddie pool regardless of who it is. I don't expect anyone much more reliable than Sanchez to be available.

I do. Unless you like Sanches throwing an int for every td.

We would have ZERO chance to win a football game with Showers he only completed 51% of his passes in preseason he's a scrub. For the past 2 preseasons he's played behind every QB we've brought in. At least Sanchez has won some games in the NFL and has played in a couple of title games. He's got issues with turnovers but if you give him a running game you have at least a chance with him. He played an excellent game against us a couple of years ago on Thanksgiving with Philly with McCoy running wild.

I would love that too but thought he was 3rd string behind RG3 and McCown...am I missing something?
They have 4 Qbs. RGIII is the starter, McCown is the backbone, and the Rookie 3rd rounder Kessler is in development. Austin is the odd man out at this point.

I almost posted this but I wasn't in the mood to face the CZ firing squad.

Better you than me my man.

Duck.

I completely agree and it's a shame it has to be like that. There's nothing worse than being the messenger and wanting to get some info out and getting killed for it.
