So Dak will get 80 million a season right if he hits free agency? Because everyone overpays in free agency.

If we cave and give him 60 we're just overpaying for a player that was already on our roster vs, a free agent, why is that better when we saw when he can do and we didn't succeed?

What the team seems to be doing is going all in on 2 things. Pushing the older players out, and then brining in a youth movement. Maybe thats what Jerry meant. Thats why Dak has no new deal I think. Explains why we traded for Trey Lance. Its an overhaul when you stop and examine it all. Just look how many guys we let walk. It is a massive change or departure from what we do here. I mean, many of us been wanting this for years, so now its happening and many are freaking out. Change is hard, but sometimes its a must.

Do some research. John Ridgeway produced better stats results in 2023 than Jonathan Hankins. It shows John Ridgeway has improved in 2 short years. We would have had Ridgeway peaking at the right time when most needed right now, but Jerry and these idiot coaches who either don't know how to coach up players or are too lazy to coach them up have cost this team big time.
You should take your own advice sometimes AC, do you really want to compare the two, we are talking margins here, very narrow.

Hankins:
27 total tackles
13 solo
14 assists
3 sacks

Ridgeway:
31 total tackles
16 solo
15 assists
0 sacks

You might want to recheck your stats ...

Agreed as long as they don't blow it by resigning dak, doing some dumb extensions and overpaying for middle to low end guys.

Just run it out, hope the draft goes our way and get rid of the garbage.

2024 will be a losing season but at least one that could give hope for the future

Nope. I'm correct. Young John Ridgeway had better stats in 2023 than old man Johnathan Hankins. Dumb Cowboys could have had the quickly improving and young John Ridgeway right now and not be in such a dilemma with DT/NT being a void on this Defense.

Heard him on a podcast and he says why pay A+ prices for B- players in free agency… ok to develop your own players….he is always neutral on his commentaries so he has credibility
Mazi and his size was drafted to plug running lanes and stop opposing teams from running the ball, but what they got is a young millionaire who would be better off getting a talent agent to find him commercials in weight loss adds! This past draft has been a major BUST for the Cowboy brass and now they have more holes to plug than they do draft picks!

It does seem unclear (strange as the war room was televised)....it appeared that McClay was the table thumper for Mazi....but didn't he indicate Mazi may well have more potential as a 1-tech that can contribute to pass rush and they downsized him for that purpose?
It'll be interesting (especially with Zimmer and his preference for size) whether Mazi reverts to his natural playing weight and concentrates on run defense.... and schemed to create holes in pass rush.

During the first days of Mazi's training camps he was the talk of the camp about how big and strong he was, but when the team got into the preseason games Mazi all but disappeared on the field of play against dudes who aren't even in the NFL anymore.

Isn't that the way, with DT, one of the biggest step ups from beating up on college O-Line men

Why would anyone doubt Jerry? I mean his track record is impeccable. All those deep playoff runs. All the SBs. The rest of league is just playing catch up.

In fairness to Jerry the last 3 season they put together a team good enough to make deep playoff runs if not win the SB. The issue is they think Dak is a good leader, but he folds in the playoffs. Hopefully he is smart enough to not resign Dak and so far that seems like the case.

This team and culture is soft as butter. Punch them in the mouth and they fold. Every time.

Don't worry. Jerry said there is no culture issue.

He also said they will be All In this year, then later explained that All In means something completley different in old, crazy egomaniac language, and is now pushing More with Less.

Of course the "More with Less" comment is only a few years removed from Jerry explaining that every time he didn't spend big, it usually doesn't work out.

Maybe, just maybe, he's full of old guy poop and more and more people have figured it out.
