How so? Martin is still a very good player but he isn't dominant like he once was. Players getting name recognition awards for past production is nothing new.

No cop out at all. You can generally look at any year end list like this and see several folks who's inclusion is very questionable with the only real explanation being "name recognition".

I do agree that he does get some advantage because he plays RG as there are fewer high end players on that side. I would still contend that Wyatt Teller & Shaq Mason are probably better at this point though. I didn't watch either extensively this year though.

Martin doesn't "lose" a lot but he also doesn't "win" a lot. Too much stalemating in run blocking for me to consider him the best. Too often I have watched teams easily handle the defensive line we faced and struggled against the previous week. He had a stretch early in the year where he looked to be dominant again. I assume age is preventing him from being able to sustain it though.
Clear example of someone that failed Football 101

Ryan Stonehouse of the Titans breaks the single season punting record - beating one of the oldest records in the NFL - and does make all-pro?

Answer a few questions for me. Why have we been unable to convert so many short yardage situations the last few years? If he's dominating, why aren't more runs called behind him?

Early in his career, the defender was getting moved even when they knew it was coming. Now, not so much.

That's extremely rare for all-pro (questionable selections). It's more common with pro bowl especially "alternates"

Teller and Mason actually graded out at career lows this year (you could argue both had the worst years of their entire careers). They also have the disadvantage of playing for a team that didn't make the playoffs (which is factored in sometimes when there's a couple players with similar levels of play) and Teller had 6 penalties which is quite a bit for an interior lineman (Martin had 1 penalty this year and has 6 combined in the last 4 seasons)

Even Quenton Nelson on the other side of the line allowed 5 sacks, had 5 penalties, and had career low rating (2023 wasn't a good year for guards)

Parsons is going against Bosa and Garrett. Can’t complain about those guys over him.
Yeah last year he got in the all-pro team as a "linebacker" but I wonder if they will classify him as an edge rusher this year.

The official AP all-pro team which will be out in a few days also has 3 linebacker spots while this "players all-pro" list in the opening post only has 2 slots so he could very well make that 3rd spot in the official list

Turpin’s story is nice, but he is average at best this year at returning punts. His fumbles alone should keep him off any all pro teams! He is very good, when he does not drop the ball, but his blocking is pretty mediocre. On his fumble, vs Washington, the guy that recovered the ball, the gunner, was NEVER touched!
How is he avg?
Have you actually looked
If he’s avg we need more avg players at other positions

Good comments. Especially this one. And thank you for engaging in a reasonable discussion.

I'm not trying to bash him but it's difficult for me to say he's the best RG in football when I don't see him making a big difference. That's all. Just a fair assessment of current play not a historically tainted version.

He’s near the top of the league in both punt and kick returns
Maybe that’s why he got them
6th in average per punt return, 7th per kick return. And has dropped off a cliff the last 6 weeks. But by all means, keep telling me how elite he is.
