Someone isn't up on the new cba rule that prohibits the forgiveness of NFL fines.
One small nit............... fines on rookie deals can be forgiven. So if Lamb held out, his fines could be expunged.

That may actually be the best route. Trade him for a day 2 pick and a young iOL star on a rookie deal
I will be making a voodoo doll of Jones if Martin ends up on an NFC East roster. And toss the needles. I am using 3 inch wood nails.

He’s currently 6.5m$ AAV below the highest paid guard, so if he gets a multi year deal at that level it’ll recoup the lost money 25-50 times over vs. continuing to play on his current deal
I understand that but he’s asking for more money because he believe he should be paid more yet just gave 500k away.

See, this is a smart fan.

Not like the ones claiming we should just trade him or not care if he sits out.
We pick and chose when we want to knock this front office. We are pissed when they cave in and overpay but want them to continue the trend.

The irony of this all is he wants to be paid more money but just literally threw 500k away and counting. Make it make sense?
He can easily make up $500,000 with a new deal. Added money will be in the multimillions.

If you could skip working hard for a few weeks to a month and actually ultimately gain money wouldn't you do it?

I could probably see Zack's side a little bit more if he was due for an extension soon, but isn't he under contract until like 2026?

Love the guy. Best player on the team by far, but he will be a professional. They will figure it out.

I’d do it for sure. But I also can acknowledge it’s very selfish and something I wouldn’t expect from a “leader” but i for sure would do it.

Yep. He's eyeing shoring up some bonus money that won't necessarily hurt Dallas' cap the next couple of years but will put millions more in his pockets. I'm with Jerry to an extent on where does it end if he gives in to Martin, but my line in the sand would be below All-Pro. If you're an All-Pro, I'm willing to bend over backward to make you feel that you are being done right.

He's already obscenely rich.

$500k is nothing to him if he managed his money well and I'm sure he has.

He wants to be even more obscenely rich, even though his current contract continues to make him obscenely rich.

It is what it is. Some players like Tyron Smith or Roger Staubach or others look at their pocketbook and see it's fine.

Martin wants to add more heaps of money on more and that's what's important to him.

I don't judge, it's a business league and he is doing business. Maybe he has some reasons why he needs extra millions on top of the millions he has.

No matter what he does, Jerry can’t win. If he gives him a newcontract (even though he still has this year and next year to go), players will start lining up for THEIR new contract, fans will gripe, and the media will go on an epic “gullible Jerry” overreaction. If he holds his ground, Martin might dig in, the OL would suffer, fans would freak, and the media will CRITICIZE!

Martin has one more year on his deal after this and two "void" years that just extend out the bonus money. Plus, his salary next year is $23 million, so redoing his deal could bring that down ... since his base is $13 million and not currently guaranteed. It really makes absolute sense to me for them to get a deal done, but they may be working on it outside of the public eye and just can't come to an agreement.
