The fine only hurts him if he doesn't get a new deal because his agent will cover that in new money.

This GM is the worst blinker in the NFL, why wouldn't you take a run at more money, if this was the only chance you were going to get?

I laugh at the comments that he's not a team guy, he's one of the best in history but in the NFL it is every player for himself because it's owners' one for all, all for one.

The comments about him signing a contract are laughable. If he was injured and getting an injury settlement, would the owner care about the contract he signed?

OK let me restate.

It will be forgiven in the form of an incentive payment he is easy to receive.

Bottom line is he ultimately won't be out this fine money he is accumulating by making it back this season.

Hope that makes sense.
These owners work around that fine can't be forgiven rule with players at this level.

When he comes back this will 100% be waived Imo and he’ll pay no fine

His base is low this season.

I don’t think he cares.

He can afford to sit the entire season.

His base is low because they converted it to a bonus in March and gave him the money all up front. But either way, $50k per day adds up.

His base is now low because he got 10 million of his base in March in an upfront payment.

It’s disingenuous to say his base is low this year.
But it is low.

He will sit the season before playing for nothing.

I could probably see Zack's side a little bit more if he was due for an extension soon, but isn't he under contract until like 2026?

Love the guy. Best player on the team by far, but he will be a professional. They will figure it out.
He really is only under contract through next year. The other years are void years that won't ever be seen without a new deal.

Sure, I'd prefer to have Martin on the field but, quick, name the
current starting RGs of last year's SB teams.

I don't get his strategy. He signed a contract. He's listed as the 4th
highest paid RG in the NFL.
HE is clearly the best OL we have and there currently is not a legit replacement. Add in the fact that Steele is coming off a major injury and Tyron can't be counted on. Our OL needs the stability of the best OL we have. It isn't just about him being a G.

No bad news coming out of the RG spot in camp is all I can say. and we all know the saying when it comes to DB and OL, if you don't hear they're names that means they doing good. We won't get much for a older disgruntled star that wants to be paid again, late draft picks.

True.....but he also just saw them pay Diggs and now Hooker. Martin is clearly more impactful than Hooker is.
He is but Hooker is about to be a free agent. Martin is not. I get it though I’m shocked they did these deals so early…I mean we knew Lamb, Parsons and Diggs were coming up but I did not know Diggs would be the one first.
