Marty B's days could be numbered

I think people need to remember that defenses pay attention to Bennett when he's in there because he showed last year he's more than capable of making plays. The Saints I am sure didn't spend any time at all worrying about Phillips this week cause they hadn't ever seen him do anything. Now that he showed tonight that he's got some ability I doubt other teams will totally over look him the way the Saints did.

Hush your mouth, he is garbage and he needs to be taken out on Tuesdays and Fridays.

So what play has Bennett made this year....How has he helped the team...does he have Romo or the Coaches trust when the game is on the line....after 14 games...I have seen nothin...Witten is the #1 TE and Phillips has stepped up and did something Bennett has not done all year...

how long can you hold on to a TE in the mold of Jamarus Russell...... this is the NFL not the boyscouts....

If you think defenses worry too much about Bennett's half catch per game you're nuts. They worry about Wittten, Felix and Austin. Maybe Roy Williams and Crayton. Definitely not Bennett.

Phillips executed his assignments perfectly and was the compliment to Witten that we've been looking for since 2005.

But all we did in the draft was get special teams players and scrubs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marty B's lack of a productive season...and the breakout performance of Phillips-----really shows that Marty B is NOW expendable... Marty B's had the opportunity..... but did not make the best of it.....his lack of performance made way for Phillips to step and show his trustworthiness to the team....Phillips has earned Romo's and the coaches trust in both blocking and catching......somthing Mary B still lacks......Saelavee Marty B....

dont get me wrong phillips had a big game and came through in the clutch! BUT did you ever think of why phillips had such a good game?? Hmmmm... it was probably bc he was the last guy the saints were worried about! think about it b4 tonights game he had 2 catches for 8 yrds. So why would they game plan for phillips b4 austin, roy, witten, barber, jones, etc.? AND why would they give up on a second round draft pick just after two years?? Think before you speak mane!

Should have traded him when we had the chance

20/20 hindsight is a B.

I still don't see us moving him just yet, unless another 1st round offer comes along in the offseason.

Still, I'd like to see consistency from Phillips. He's had some ugly drops this year too.

It's hard when you're in Jhayson Whittenn's shadow.

so smart boy....what has Bennett done this year....you are obviously the expert........"think before you speak"..... and by the way HERO check your spelling MANE(MAN) :lmao2:

Should've done it

We didn't know about Phillips boys, so calm down, retrospect vision is 20/20,

I did...lol UVA fan here him and Otree, but don't get me wrong I still love what Marty B brings to this team.

so just what has Bennett accomplished after 14 games....his highlight of the year was Cincy offering a so called 1st rounder for him.... what has he done....how has he helped out the team...NOT worth salt at this point....Phillips done more in one game than Bennett did all year...Romo and the coaches obviously trust him to make the right descions....something Bennett sorely lacks.......

Only be one of the main blockers in one of the top offenses in the league.

The team adjusted the offense in the offseason to put him on the field as much as possible. They asked him, mainly, to block 95% of the time ( which he done exceptionally* ) and catch the ball on the other 5% that they might throw to him, which he's done with the exception of ONE game where had ONE drop.

The offensive coordinator, knowing he has a pretty terrific guy at the 3rd TE position has not even considered making any changes. THE owner of the team said he got an offer ( indirectly ) of a #1 pick for him but because he was playing such an important role on the offense, he didn't pull the triger.

*= there have been whispers that he's been blocking so well that if it wasn't for his athleticism, they would have probably turned into a LT by now and they've not ruled that out completely.

Yet you ask " what's he done "?

any WR or TE should be given 3 years to develop in the NFL.....Bennett showed what he is capable of last season and in pre season this year.....he is not the first look and gets limited chances ..everyone complains about our depth but always wants to trade any good depth we have.......in time he will be a beast...

Ok let me start off with Marty B's stats last year, 20 catches for 283 yards and 4 TD's. this year Bennet has 15 catches for 159 yrds. With Bennet being 6'6'' and 265+ pounds with wr type speed, he is going to require more attention than Phillips who hasnt made any type of impact this year. which again brings me too my point he was probably the last guy that the saints prepared for. another thing to think about, how many of phillip's catches tonight were outstanding grabs?? NONE! they were 5-7 yard throws, in other words, check downs! there was no way that he was romo's primary target coming out of the huddle! Phillips didnt do anything that bennet couldnt have done. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK MANE, or if you would like english professor man.

:hammer:

Somebody should sticky that phrase.

Question:

What happens if, lord forbids, Jason Witten goes down with an injury ? Who's going to be the receiving TE that can come close to matching his production ?

Anyone ? Bueller ? Anyone ? Bueller ?

Bennett may have a lot of physical talent, but he will always struggle with the mental aspect of the game, something it looks like Phillips understands.

Why in God's name can't people enjoy a huge win without making stupid threads like this?

Really ? You think that a guy who's played as much as he has so far is struggling mentally ?

Oh, wait, you probably think that blocking doesn't take much mental effort, huh ? That anybody could just line up on the LOS and just hit the guy in front of you and that's it. No reading defenses, no using different techniques for different plays, no adjusting to different defensive alignments, different calls at the LOS, none of that..

Just get on a 3 point stance and hit somebody.. Doesn't take much mental work...
