As advertised...

...except for the fact that people around here who said Cassel was garbage and wouldn't give us anything that Weeden didn't were flamed for either being trolls or not knowing what we were talking about.

We didnt but the Buffalo, KC and Minnesota coaching staffs did.

How is it that these receivers can't get separation when Cassel and Weeden are the quarterbacks but can when Romo is quarterback?

I don't think it's an issue of the receivers not getting separation.
This offense, like most NFL offenses, are based on timing patterns. You may not get super separation, but you can get a step on a defender. And if that's the case, your quarterback has to get you the ball.

IMO, Cassel and Weeden lack the confidence to fit balls in to tight windows because they don't want to make mistakes. They don't have the overall awareness to scan the field, look off receivers and find guys open. And they don't have the talent Romo has to be able to successfully put the ball where it needs to be so only your man can catch it.

Oh, and they don't have the experience with these receivers Tony has.

Good/Great quarterbacks make average receivers look good and good receivers look great. For goodness sake, look at what Brady has done his entire career. Look at what P. Manning has done all his career.

Tony Romo has made the likes of Patrick Crayton, TWilliams, Cole Beasley and even Dez Bryant (though Dez is a superstar, he's not exactly the best route runner) look better than they are.

Cassel and Weeden are going to make them look average because they're below average in their ability to read defenses, process information quickly and get the ball to the open man in a spot where only their receivers can catch the ball.

The NFL is a game of inches. Tony Romo only needs inches. Cassel and Weeden need yards between the receiver and the defender for them to complete a pass.

And, that, my friend, is the difference.

This is really simple and as much as people want to tell how crappy the WRs have been, they have been getting NFL open. The problem lies in Weeden and Cassel not being accurate enough or throwing with anticipation to routinely hit an NFL open reciever. They are looking for college open and that doesn't happen very much in the pros.

Yep. Did we really think Cassel would right this sinking ship?

i remember a lot of people close to the cowboys, when the switch was made, said he was pretty much the same as weeden. i think us as fans though were looking for somebody, anybody to save the ship. kind of like some of us were saying michael was the answer as well. i think we were looking for that one player to pull a romo and carry this team while he was away but sadly we dont have that it seems.

:clap::clap:

If the division wasn't so bad and still possibly winnable, I'd say they give Showers a look (I'm a UTEP homer & alum). But it's a crisp situation where what's there isn't working but you can't pack it in yet either.

The last 2 games have been frustrating bc they've been so winnable. The D, while not flashy and not the take-away monster Denver is, has been effective enough to keep the team in the game.

I guess we gotta just hope the QBs figure something out or Romo's coming back to a 2-7/2-2 team or so.

Steve Dennis talked to somebody at VR and said Weeds was Brad Johnson, and Cassel was nore of Kitna. However yesterday our great HC and OC made him be Weeds.

Cassel is not Kitna.

I gotta say, Matt Cassel is pretty much exactly as advertised. People just didn't want to believe his history and were hopeful instead that what we'd done is traded for a handful of magic beans. They got stupid old lima beans, and are now somehow shocked.

Cassell barely knows our offense and doesn't trust what he sees downfield in it.

We have a better chance in there with Cassel at QB vs the previous field general. Not saying much but true.

Cue the "Cassell just sucks" responses in 3, 2, 1....

No, after the Giants game I had more confidence in winning with Cassels than Weeden, because despite the picks he tried to attack and not play to lose. But seems like now his confidence is shot and he'll revert to playing not to lose like Weeden did. But his pocket awareness and mobility is much greater than Weeden, so he's better for that reason

You may get attacked for stating what I consider a very astute observation. Just warning you.

I don't believe that is the case.

Here is his last drive in all it's glory

Wow. That is a classic deer in headlights. It looks like someone took an 18 high school senior and told him to go play NFL QB for a drive. That doesn't look like a 10 year vet to me.

What pocket awareness? Look at that last drive video.

I've jumped on Floaty about his fanboyism of Kellen Moore. Two games was enough for me to see that Cassell is only slightly better than hot garbage.

I think we should at least give Moore a look-see. Would not hurt. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen IMHO.

So you jumped on the Float !!!! :lmao2:

After two weeks of watching Cassel, I'm starting to get nostalgic about the good ole Brandon Weeden days. I can remember a time back when checkdown passes were actually pretty.

He didnt complete ONE pass over 15 yards yesterday.

The offensive scheme isnt doing anyone any favors either. Would be nice to see them use motion, picks etc, you know like almost every other MODERN offense in the NFL. It is so irritating that they make it easy for Sherman to just line up and take Dez on. How about putting Dez in motion to try to create some confusion or force a switch?
