Matt Forte on the block

Y'all just want to give away all of our draft picks huh?

If we lose today the season is over. If we win today I still don't want the trade bc we still have Weeden at the helm.

The season isn't over if we lose today. We would still be in first place in the division. Some of you guys I question if y'all really are Cowboys fans or just posers for other teams

older, 7.5 million a year tag....not sure if I want to strap ourselves that way....and its easy for faulk to play fantasy football, he doesn't have to make cap decisions.

Forte gets love in FF because of volume in the running and passing game. But he is the epitome of high mileage legs and high salary and cap hits.

lol at people not wanting Forte. He wouldn't cost that much and it would be well worth the risk of him leaving in the offseason. He's probably still a top 5 RB in the league and would look dominant behind our line. All of the wannabe GMs on this forum need to stop overthinking this and just realize that getting Forte is a no-brainer. Obviously you don't wanna give up too much but I seriously doubt he's gonna cost that much.

He actually costs over 8m, which is A LOT plus whatever pick it takes to get him and he is nowhere near a Top 5 back.

What do you think it would take? I think at least a third and that's only for this season. Too rich for my blood.

His contract is expiring... obviously we aren't gonna extend him for $8m/yr so that's irrelevant. And give me your top 5 backs. Just curious.

Cut who exactly

Forte.

Somebody (quote #1) in my last response said he was too expensive.

Somebody else (quote #2) in my last response said they could just cut him if he is too expensive.

I said, why cut him if you just traded for him.

You said he was a free agent after the season.

The poster must not have realized Forte is on the last year of his contract

We have to trade for him AND pay him that 8m this year(prorated). We only have around 5m in cap space left for the rest of the season.

Bell. Charles, Peterson, Lynch, Murray, Lacy, McCoy, Hill off the top of my head. Plus Gurley, Gordon, Yeldon, Abdullah, Jones and Coleman if you want to talk about rookies and going forward from now.

Having Weeden at the helm the next few weeks puts an even bigger premium on having a running game. The Cowboys should have invested a draft pick on a back during the draft. Wouldn't want to give up much for Forte he'll be 30 in Dec but if he came cheap I would do it if it meant saving this season. It was foolish not taking a back in a strong RB draft and going into the season with a couple of average backs and bank on the OL to make them productive.

I'd take Bell, AP, Lynch, Lacy, and McCoy over him and that's it. Just my opinion.
As far as the money goes... couldn't we just restructure some guys to make it work? Not sure if that would work, I'm not a cap genius.

Demarco Murray is stinking up the joint and not happy as an Eagle. Let Chip work a trade for Forte. The Eagles have the cap space to make it work.

It would be hilarious.

Adding Forte to our roster wouldn't add to the win total this year so I see no reason to spend a draft pick to get him. It's got nothing to do with romo either.

Agreed. The price isn't worth taking. We've invested in our backfield that has out ran Philly's for alot less $$$. Forte is where he belongs.
