Too bad. Hope he's out more as a precaution than injury. I'd like to see why they think so much of the player. Might be a day to day thing or might be worse. Let's wait and see before we cut the guy on the spot. I get the discouragement though.

Would be nice to really get a look at him. There's plenty of time for that to still happen since we don't know how long he'll be sidelined. I understand people's frustration with him, and there will come a time when the Cowboys have to give up, but there is no reason not to have patience and let it play out.

This kid needs to be shown the door. Has never done anything on the field to deserve such a free ride. You can't preach rkg and at the same time keep a guy who doesn't take his profesion seriouse enough to keep his hamstrings loose. Anyone who louds his play in college is the reason to stick with him needs to rethink that becouse this guy is supposed to be a pro. Give his snaps to someone hungry and willing to do what it takes to make plays on the field and EARN his paycheck, not pull up at every twinge and go home for the year and collect a free paycheck. Kid is a bad example to other players that you don't have to be prepared and you don't have to be tough and you still get paid.

You know what's really dumb? People saying the kid's getting "a free ride"

He was signed by an nfl team. That's a lot further than 99 percent of people who have played organized football get. When your in the top 1 percent of your field or profession I think that is quite an accomplishment for any person.

Good for him, then.

How is that going to help us win a Super Bowl?

It wasn't like any of us fans (or even coaches for that matter) were expecting much from Matt Johnson. Some players are just jinxed. I'm sure Johnson did everything the trainers told him to do. It just didn't work out. Looks like the dream is ending for Matt Johnson. Or, maybe some other team will kick the tires at a later date. A change of scenery might do him well.

Agreed although it certainly understandable to hear the frustration. I don't like hearing the insensitive remarks though.

Honestly if we never had such a history of injuries lately, I'd be all for him to stay and develop. I'm just so tired of injuries in general. Yes it's part of the game but it has cursed the Cowboys.

Time to cut the cord already. I don't care if this is a minor injury. The guy cannot go full speed with pads on for more than a few practices without getting hurt. He is never going to be a reliable enough player to keep on the 53 man roster. Just cut him and get someone in there that can make it through a practice.

Because his bios' fit the mold of what Kiffins Tampa 2 defense needs at safety, so Johnson will remain on this roster until he has to be cut.

He's got the metrics and he looks like what they want and plays like it when he's healthy.

Shame what has happened to the guy. Just cant seem to stay healthy to save his life. Would have been nice to at least of seen what we have in him for an extended period. Least that way we would have known.

Yea, we are all pulling for him...guess it's time to just see if he makes it.

Never understood why they are necessary because a player can't stay healthy. I guess it makes them feel right or better about themselves or something, I don't know.

No one would want others to talk about them that way, but I think some people just see players as commodities instead of people. I personally prefer to pull for all the players on this team, because for now they are all Cowboys. Realistically, I know they won't all be, but that's no reason to kick them while they are down.

This really stinks for Johnson. And it's not good for the Cowboys. Frustration from fans is one thing, but the ill-will towards a camp hopeful isn't necessary.

Pointing that out isn't even defending the team. It's just pointing out the obvious. @adbutcher, I think you're looking at it exactly the right way. No mater what ends up happening for Johnson in camp.

It's unfortunate. I'd like an opportunity to see the kid play but that may not be in the cards. From a business perspective, maybe the organization is better served looking for a replacement.
