For the love all the old gods, new gods, children of the forest, and the first men of the north I BEG you fine people to make this the last thread made about this curse of a player.

It's unfortunate. I'd like an opportunity to see the kid play but that may not be in the cards. From a business perspective, maybe the organization is better served looking for a replacement.

Can't make the club in the tub. I'm sure everybody involved is aware of the implications of more injury time for Matt.

The team is justified for keeping him available thus far if they like his potential, but if he can't stay on the field, he can't stay on the roster. I think we all get that, right?

Its time to let Matt Johnson go. No reason you should waste money or a roster spot on a guy who you can't depend on. Let him go and let him get healthy for some other team. Its not gonna happen here.

Matt Johnson is being given every excuse in the book because he's a 4th round pick that the team had no business (in hindsight of course) selecting that early. There was a lot of controversy about this selection in the 1st place, and I was on his bandwagon at the time. How you can keep defending why this team wants to still keep after the same story 3 years running is just another example of poor decision making this staff routinely makes. At some point, you have to admit that he can't play, and you move on. The odds of guys selected after the 4th round that go on to have productive careers have been well documented in this forum plenty of times. Guys, he just couldn't beat the odds.

He's been an NFL training program for 3 years now and as @Tawney88 pointed out - he hasn't even played in a real football game since Oct of 2011. Let that sink in for a moment...

If you really think that he's going to magically heal and challenge Wilcox, Hamilton, or even Dixon at this point then that is just ludicrous. It's a raw deal for Johnson, his dreams of playing in the NFL are coming to a sad end but no one should be throwing him a pity party. He's made more money than me and probably most everyone here, let him go so he can figure out what he can do outside of the NFL.

He's got the metrics and he looks like what they want and plays like it when he's healthy.

Says who? He has no metrics because he hasn't played football that counted since 2011. No one knows what he can do. He hasn't shown anyone anything because he can't go 3 days in a row without being injured. Him being a good football player is nothing but a myth and a hopeless dream. Get rid of him tomorrow and sign someone who can at least stay on the field and give you reps against the players that will actually make the team. He is dead weight, useless, and 100% too unreliable to ever give a roster spot to. Who in their right mind would ever put him on the 53 while having to cut some promising young player?

Shame, but honestly, was anyone expecting anything out of Matt Johnson?

I'd written him off in my mind already and never considered him in competition for a starting position. As such, I don't consider this much of a blow to the team. A blow to Johnson, sure it sucks for him, but I think he was an outside shot to ever make any contribution at this point.

what is the point of keeping him around now? Even if he shows something why do we want Sean Lee part deux?

Not sure who your addressing here, Bluestang. Literally nobody is defending him, or defending the organization. Am I missing something? Criticizing an attitude isn't the same thing as disagreeing with an argument.

What accomplishments, though? He's never played a meaningful snap in his career.

I'm not going to dump on the guy and call him names, because he's a human being, but I think the organization should waive him.

Making it to the league is a pretty good accomplishment.

He's probably referring to what Jason Garrett explicitly said about Johnson a day or so ago.

I dont think its wrong for those who want Matt Johnson gone, to just be cut, but I just think those same people really have no real understanding of the how this game is played at this level. There is some value in patience, and certain rosters can afford that luxury.

It is his metrics from school and/or the combine just like EVERYONE else that we're taking about. They had amble opportunity to see him here as well so it's not as if they have zero idea what his metrics are. Perhaps you're confusing that with stats.

I'm not interested in any conversation about him being useless since I've avoided that topic.

I heard it was a hammy, if that's all it is he should bounce back before the cuts. The kid has talent but he has to stay healthy.

Football is a rough sport most here talking trash about a player's injury status would not last a day in training camp during a full padded practice.

I pray for health and a speedy recovery for all injured players no need to ridicule.

No way it could be a hamstring on this team...I mean when was the last time we had one of those?

I guess we are notorious for using 4th round picks on uber athletic guys.....and giving them every chance to make it. I can still hear Jerry Jones comparing Isiah Stanback to Terrell Ownes. Because of the size/speed similarities. Or how about the DB who was from a D3 school..Owunsa Wansa(sp?)...maybe from a small school in PA. I think he was also a 4th round pick that we gave multiple chances to prove he could play. He too was an uber athlete.

Some will never get it jobberone, Johnson in some ways is a lot like Rolando,, they are freaks at their position, but can they live up to their metrics. Thats what is make or break, and why a front office with a clue invests time in to certain players. Some may want to just cut a player like MJ, but a more prudent approach is to hold and see,,, much cheaper.

My patience is worn out re: Johnson but we don't have the data to even make these kinds of statements. Maybe we will or won't. I think the team has been too enamored by metrics but they haven't changed their stance on metrics except to add production and intangibles to the equation. Players now have to have more than athleticism. But I digress. We'll wait and see what develops just like the team will have to wait.
