Oh I agree that Stafford is not HOF material. He sucked it up and made the plays when it counted but he could have put that game out of reach earlier. Th Patsy troll is just bitter now that the Patriots are just another team.
Oh, I'm not ruling out at all.
Just don't think his resume is quite there yet.

But he has HUGE career numbers (fastest QB ever to 20k yards, to 30k, to 40K....) already and now has one SB win. His career playoff QB rating is one of the best all-time,,,,though it is only thru 7 games.
so if he plays a few more years with good success, he will be considered.

Stafford could end up having a great 5 year stretch to finish his career. If Brees was able to do it with Payton then I don't see why Stafford can't with McVay and Kupp. We very well could see him finish out his career as an elite QB

True.
We'll have to see.
Dude took a real beating for 12 years in Detroit and had a tendency to play thru that stuff. Has to have some long-term damage.

But if he even just plays 3-4 more years, he will be top 4-5 on the all-time passing list with only 1st ballot HOFers ahead of him.
So it could be interesting.

Dude won the first playoff game of his career, and played perfect. Its amazing what happens when you surround a guy of his ability with talent around him to match. The truth is that if Stafford wasn't mired in the weeds of Detroit for so long, he would be on that Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes level.

Nice. I love it when a post ages well.

"Matt Stafford wins" ...REALLY? Then what happened in Detroit all those years? It takes more than just a good QB. This is the ultimate team game. Rams have a great franchise. TOP DOWN. We don't. Ball games are won by doing the simple things very well consistently. We complicate the game here in Dallas. I think its a case of being too cute and having 2 many cooks in the kitchen. Just my opinion. Justs 4 the record, I am a Stafford fan. He reminds me of Aikman in some ways. I luv the fact he will bravely stand in the pocket, taking the big hit to make a play. That is mental toughness as well...KNOWING you will be getting a big hit. Dak 4 some reason, changed...he went from being that guy, to being tentative. I wonder if injuries were lingering with him. me thinks the main issue was 2 many voices in his ear telling him what 2 do. I think Dak will be better without Kellen Moore actually. I think MM needs to become the playcaller and lone voice in Daks headset. Get back to the basics. Singularity in this league DONE WELL..works great.

Yep, really. Stafford was always a great QB. Now he is a great QB supported by a capable defense, and he has a ring to prove it. The 2 greatest seasons by a WR in NFL history were put up by Calvin Johnson in 2012 and Cooper Kupp in 2021, both guys can thank Matt Stafford.

That is something I doubt anyone else will note.

No one doubts Staffords ability. To call him GREAT is overstating it. He isn't great. He's a good QB with Moxy and a big Arm. He makes 2 many bone headed throws that leave ya scratching your head to deem him great. He just isn't. But thats fine. I like him. I would love to have him. I like the fact he has a very short memory after a bad throw. Fearless. Now we can call him a SB winning QB.

He was perfect? lol Defense bailed his butt out in both playoff games as he damn near gave those games away. I think he is a good QB not even close to the Rodgers. Brady and Mahomes.

Let’s see
Game winning drive with insanely clutch throw to win game vs Bucs

15 play, game winning drive, including 6 straight completions and a TD called back to win the Super Bowl

108 QB rating for the entire playoffs

I think he played well against 4 good teams

Not Josh Allen level in his two games, but very very good

He threw 17 passes in the game... which is about half as many as he was throwing per game in the regular season... mcvay called a very conservative game plan, which protected his qb... it was almost like Goff was back in LA...

I'm still in a wait and see mode when it comes to Stafford...
At this point, what are you waiting to see?

That's what's viewed here as 'garbage time'.
There is a big difference between “ garbage time” and making a 4th quarter comeback. Fans understood the difference before attempting to change the definition to prop up an average at best , massively overpaid QB .

Wanted to revist this...

So after yesterdays performance, we still got any Matthew Stafford White Knights here? Does anyone think that he's still a HoF worthy contender? lol, hof ... lmao... I literally laughed as I typed that... If people think he is a HoF caliber player, i'm truly gobsmacked... discerning real talent isn't that difficult...

Did nothing yesterday except not screw up sooo bad the rams couldn't recover... The real HoF level talent on that team, Kupp & Darnold, picked that team up and dragged them to victory... Stafford was about as bland as chicken broth...

Stafford’s playoff numbers were 1186 yards, 12 TDs and 3 total turnovers. He had 4 consecutive 3 TD games. It was one of the most prolific playoff runs of any QB ever. But beyond that…

Stafford was drafted unusually young for a QB in the 2009 draft. He’s the same age bracket of the remaining QBs taken 3 years later. Stafford, Wilson, & Cousins will all only be 34 by the end of next season.

Quarterbacks with 45,000 yards passing, 320 TDs, 40 game winning drives, 30 4th quarter comebacks, and a Super Bowl Ring:

Roethlisberger, retired at 39
Manning, retired at 39
Brady, retired at 44
Brees, retired at 41
Stafford, week 1 2022 will be the first regular season game at 34 years old

That’s it. No Favre, no Marino, Montana.

He’s on pace to become one of one. He should easily become the all time leader in game winnings drives. Players make the hall of fame for a number of reasons, there’s no way they’re keeping him out when he’s done… which could be 5, 6, 7 years from now

- I'm really glad for Staff ... all of his career years suffering in just a perennial miserable losing atmosphere, .that will Not get any better anytime soon.

- But not only were the Lions willing to allow their all time leading passer to be traded, but they traded him to a playoff contender, a top HC and systematic offense
that allowed him to compete for a SB ring. He's really reaping the sweet rewards now, after being the ugly duckling for so very long .

- i've always thought Barry Sanders and Calvin Mega-tron Johnson should have really pushed their insistence to be traded,.. instead of being content to go out
as perennial career losers.

how about year in year out? Little bit more than one season?

I don't get the need, and its pathological for some, to instantly proclaim the newest flavor of the month a great player, a HoF caliber player... I mean, heads must have exploded after Joe Flacco had his run in 2012...

Detroit has been a train wreck since the 90's. Stafford never had a chance to win there but the tools and ability have always been evident. With Dallas out, I am rooting for him to get a ring.
he got one , and he had to earn it.
He played good in the SB.

Thing is he wasted 11 years in detroit. as a star qb it is hard to get away from the team that drafts you.
Best thing to do is tank in the last year of your first contract and then refuse to sign new deal, and refuse to play on tag.

otherwise you have to play 2 years on the tag and risk bad injury.

He lucked out that mcvay wanted him and was able to get him.
