Maybe Dak is really starting to get it

I'm what some would call a Dakstabber but please hear me out.

Dak did this as a rookie. He was a perfect bus driver. A team could and did win with him. He very frequently took the easy pass and rarely turned the ball over. He didn't take sacks. Overall, he put the team in a position to win.

At some point over the past few years, Dak and Kellen got the idea that Dak was a gunslinger and that you had to continuously attack down field. Let's be honest, they had some great games doing this but it was frequently against lesser teams. The team ran shotgun more, play action less.

Right around the Denver game last year, competent defenses figured out that Dallas wasn't really a running team anymore. They decided to sit back in layered coverage in the middle. Instead of adjusting, Moore just kept doing the same thing which was to run simplistic routes into the teeth of the coverage. Dak is left out there waiting for a receiver to get open and either forcing a ball or taking a coverage sack (against good defenses, mind you).

I was hoping that Dak/Moore had learned from Cooper's time. Cooper isn't a good QB but he successfully made the easy throws and avoided negative plays, which is largely what this team needs. The first half of the Detroit game looked like past failures. I'm not sure Moore gets it.

Overall Dak is paid a lot. Some of his fans think he is Mahomes, where he clearly isn't. This has engendered a lot of issues between fans but IMO, Dallas can win with Dak as long as he plays to his strengths and Moore follows suit.

I totally disagree it is his confidence. His struggles have been mostly due to a loss of confidence. He’s been dealing with a lot of stuff the past couple of years with the ankle injury and his brothers suicide. He admitted he’s battled depression. Along with the fan base jumping on him it’s taken its toll on him. If he had a problem reading defenses he would have a ton of INT’s with all the passing he’s done over his career. He’s had to carry the team.
He didn’t carry the team anywhere, Amari Cooper led us to the playoffs. When you think of someone carrying the team it’s Micah Parsons. Dak has just been a benificiary of inheriting a good team and getting paid along the way for keeping Dallas relevant in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL.

2022 is a true test to see if he can carry us anywhere, as of right now he’s not even Top 3 on the team in performance

That criticism is one of many absolute piles of horse dung these "fans" level at Dak. The guy is the 7th highest rated passer of all time while allegedly not being able to read defenses. Dak's career completion percentage is 6th in NFL history. Despite the childish "Dink and Dak" moniker his yards per attempt are generally among the top 5-10 in the league and I believe is top 20 all time. And as you mention.. he doesn't throw a ton of INTs.. which is what USUALLY happens to QBs who can't read defenses.

And I don't think anybody thinks he has played for any offensive gurus in his career either so whatever he's doing he's pretty much doing it on his own. Why it bothers so many people to admit that this guy is simply a really good QB is a complete mystery to me.

His career passer rating is outstanding and he’s pushing a 67% career completion percentage. He’s into his 7th season and he only has 51 career INT’s. All this BS being spewed is by knuckleheads with an agenda.

I don't know about the "carry the team" part, but as for the rest, that's why I think he needs a good sport psychologist.

A WR doesn’t lead you to the playoffs QBs do. One defensive player doesn’t carry a team so you’re wrong again! Dak inherited a 4-12 team in 2016 and turned it into a 13-3 team. Our QBs aren’t being asked to carry anyone this season. Not many teams have thrown the ball less than the Cowboys so far. We’ve been pounding the ball most of the season, hoping we can score at least 20 points and keep our opponents under 20.

Dak is literally Kirk Cousins. Both are 98 passer ratings for their careers. Both complete 68% of their passes for their careers. Both suck in big games against good teams.

Goff, who many said Dak was far and away better than, has a career 64% Comp % in 7 seasons...Jimmy G has a career 67.3% Comp % and has 42 INT's in his 9th season....Marcus Mariota only has 49 INT's in his 8th season....Teddy Bridgewater has a career 66.4% Comp % and only 46 INT's in his 8th season...Chad Pennington had a 66% Comp % in 11 seasons....

So your stats mean......what?

Not one of those QBs you named has had to carry their team. Goff played for some pretty good teams in Los Angeles. They leaned a lot on their running game that had over 200 yards against the Cowboys in the playoffs in 2018. Jimmy G has been a bus driver his entire career. Go add up how many times he’s had to attempt over 40 to 50+ passes a game. Not a single one of those QBs has had to throw the ball as much as Dak. You obviously didn’t look into this very closely. There’s a reason Dak has had so many 400+ yard games.

And not one of them is as good as Dak.. Stats never tell the whole story.. One stat doesn't even tell the foreword.

Exactly......be patient, play smart

https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/10/24/dak-prescott-grateful-dallas-cowboys-defense

Dak Prescott Is Grateful for the Cowboys Team Around Him
The QB has a new lease on life after watching his team battle without him for five weeks, and he opens up about what it was like getting back on the field in Week 7.

That set up the rest of a first half through which Prescott, and the guys around him, were testing their boundaries and Prescott himself was testing the thumb.

“There were the two throws that I made early that, not necessarily I want back because they didn’t turn out bad, but yeah, that was my confidence and that’s what I’ve got to guard against,” he said. “It’s understanding that I do have this team, and I don’t have to try to force these balls, whether it be third down or whether it be a tight window. I have to continue to play the game, check it down, put us in field position and trust our defense to get it to back to us.

LOL that you actually fell for this
He’s a talker
