They need to just put Micah at weakside edge and leave him alone. The idea that they need to move him around and "hide" him is dumb, because it's not like he is hard to find. You can dictate how the offense is going to block everything with Micah on the edge.I think some of that is on Zimmer trying to adapt his scheme to feature Parsons. When you have a pass rusher like him, you gear things toward creating opportunities for him. Offenses know Parsons is going to rush the passer, whether he's at end, linebacker or wherever. A big part of Zimmer's pressure package is offenses not knowing where the pressure is going to come from. Is a linebacker going to blitz the gap? Are the linebackers going to drop into coverage and pressure come from the safety or nickel corner? Zimmer's given up some of that guesswork because he has Parsons. We need to see if we can make this scheme work without Parsons and then work him back in in a way that allows him to do what he does best without disrupting the scheme. If pressure can come from anywhere, that can even make Parsons more effective than offenses knowing they have to do whatever it takes to stop him and that takes care of our pressure.
i just dont buy the fact that this FO cant figure out how to use Micah better....when a team goes 2 TE Like Balt did why would we not have a bigger DE in with Micah, Overshown and Kendricks comming from all over...We are better at stopping the run, as could've easily been predicted.
Micah is a good run stopper at LB. He is not at DE. It's not much more complicated.i just dont buy the fact that this FO cant figure out how to use Micah better....when a team goes 2 TE Like Balt did why would we not have a bigger DE in with Micah, Overshown and Kendricks comming from all over...
Totally agree, we don't for one have Micah taking himself out of plays, they also target him and run right at himI know it's a tiny sample size, but maybe the defense is better, or at least not worse, without the star book-ends.
Maybe they play with more discipline.
Maybe these other guys playing for their NFL lives have more hunger and fight in them.
And just maybe this defense is more coachable without the stars taking up too much mental space.
I know it's a crazy thought, and I know Fields left some "meat on the bone" yesterday (he missed a few throws to open receivers)...but the defense just looked more solid yesterday, with Overshown flying around and being more of the leader with Micah and D Law out. I like it. Let's see if they can play well next week too.
its not being cute its Physics...he is small for a on the ball DE and playing tug o war with 300 pound OT's all game is wearing him out...how is that hard to see. They need to just put Micah at weakside edge and leave him alone. The idea that they need to move him around and "hide" him is dumb, because it's not like he is hard to find. You can dictate how the offense is going to block everything with Micah on the edge.
I don't mind blitzing him up the middle or whatever on obvious passing plays, but there's no point in being cute with him.
That's not what Baltimore was doing. It was a lot of 11 personnel.i just dont buy the fact that this FO cant figure out how to use Micah better....when a team goes 2 TE Like Balt did why would we not have a bigger DE in with Micah, Overshown and Kendricks comming from all over...

I actually didn't pick either team to win last night...here was my take on it https://cowboyszone.com/threads/dallas-winning-ugly-games.528077/post-13777542. No agenda here. I just don't believe that this defense will play as well as it did last night without DLAW and Parsons and Kneeland and whoever else we lost to injury going up against one of the better offenses in the league next week. I think the Steelers are a bottom 1/3 of the league when it comes to offense and that played apart on why our defense looked as good as it did.Yet everyone, including yourself, picked the Steelers to win. And yes, the Cowboys won the game because of Dak, the rest of the offense, the defense and special teams. Sorry it doesn’t fit your hate agenda. Not.
It is hard to see because it is wrong. If he plays a 7 or 9 tech consistently, all, he has to do is play outside shoulder of the OT. He doesn't have to ever be head's up on him.its not being cute its Physics...he is small for a on the ball DE and playing tug o war with 300 pound OT's all game is wearing him out...how is that hard to see.
He's consistently one of, if not the, best run defending edge in the league.DLaw is only a star in cowboy fan's minds. He hasn't been a star in years.
Really? I haven't seen any fans calling him a star.DLaw is only a star in cowboy fan's minds. He hasn't been a star in years.
We were playing Pitt not some juggernaut. Wait till we run the gauntlet here to feel good or not.I know it's a tiny sample size, but maybe the defense is better, or at least not worse, without the star book-ends.

for sure the Steelers offense is not good, but that doesnt take away from the fact the Dline played sound gap football, hopefully its something they can build on.I actually didn't pick either team to win last night...here was my take on it https://cowboyszone.com/threads/dallas-winning-ugly-games.528077/post-13777542.
