Sorry...you just shouldn't draft a QB in the top 5 and pay the contract and guaranteed money that demands and have him sit the bench for even 2-3. Imagine Romo playing at a high level and you lose a top 5 QB pick the way the Broncos lost Osweiller who was pick 57.

If Romo retired or said definitely one more year, then yes, but it's a ridiculous investment when you are facing a guy's second contract before he even plays.

the Osweiler situation is completely different.Brock was not a first Rder and the Broncos didnt want him that much, they could have easily put a tag on him and paid Miller but the they didnt want him that much.I dont really care if we pay our backup QB 5 million to sit for 2 years,Chase freaking Daniel got a 3 year 21 million deal for as a backup and he is not that good.If we hit on a franchise Qb than the money is immaterial and we can build the team around him,we already have the Oline,if we can build a great Dline then we are set for a decade.

We would hold a that picks rights for at minimum 4 years and more than likely 5. So assuming Romo is elite for 3 more seasons, we get 1 season of him at a rather affordable price and 1 season where we guarantee him a top 10 salary (and still do not have to make a long term commitment).

"Imagine Romo playing at a high level" somehow gets turned into being a bad thing?

If Romo retired or said definitely one more year, then yes, but it's a ridiculous investment when you are facing a guy's second contract before he even plays.

By then it's too late, just like it was with Troy Aikman, and why this team struggled for several years before getting lucky with Romo. If not for Sean Payton bringing him here, we'd still be sifting through failed baseball players.

The only "ridiculous" thing would be repeating past mistakes.

And 'poor Denver' only ended up with two Super Bowl appearances and one world championship for their troubles.

Sign me up for that 'mistake'!

Do you honestly think Romo will play 16 games next year without getting hurt or even 2-3 mroe years. History says other wise...Love Romo...but he is getting old and slow...as for Osweiller...when Manning got hurt...who stepped in and sent the Bronco's to the Playoffs, Osweiller......Osweiler saved the Bronco's season and Elway repaid him by playing him for a fool.

This. You have to look at what NCAA is producing these days, its mostly arid country. Only guy I think could be great at this point is Rosen at UCLA available 2018, where you have a 1 in 32 shot at him.

This kid is going to be special if he can keep his head on straight. Problem is that we won't have a shot at him

Jake Locker had a reported (perfect) pro day. Yawn. Wentz is much better

Pro day is just a show to me. For these QB's just watch tape from freshman to junior/sr yr. If their completion % and TD/int ratio don't improve yearly then there's something wrong and probably should just stay away. At minimum don't waste a 1st round pick on him.

His completion % and TD/int ratio improved every year he was in school. His fumbles decreased every year.

i think if we don't sign a veteran qb and go into the draft with only kellen moore there I think then you are looking at dallas taking a qb pretty high in the draft.
