He certainly wasn't pathetic in the 1st game.

I hope these guys will realize that he will be getting schooled by veteran offensive lineman and will also win some battles as well. Although he may face 1st stringers, he will also have the benefit of our 1st stringers helping to support him as well.

The Fair criticism is fans calling out things he lacks and needs to improve on as well as him being drafted when he was. I have to give him at least a full season to see his progress…..or perhaps lack of it.

This is such a truly stupid take. Smith is not the best dt of all time or a top 5 dt of all time so no worries, he’s good. Turn your brain on!

I think his point beyond just this is that Smith isn't the same kind of DT as a Donald. Donald was always a penetrating, quick, 3T. Sapp was also a havoc machine inside. Smith isn't that kind of DT. He's a space eater, a block swallower, a clog the run type that given his athletic traits may be able to develop into more than just a run plugger down the road.

But Smith will likely never be a stat sheet stuffer at the DT spot because he's not that kind of DT and I suspect not what Dallas needs out of him anywyay.

But I get the idea that he is athletic enough to be a true impact DT. Now if he just has the mental part and we won’t know that for a couple years

None of us knows what Mazi can become and all we can hope for is that the coaches can get him rolling. I trust whatever the coaches think at this point, that's why they're getting the big bucks.
