310 pounds is not ideal weight and bulk for an nfl prototype 1 tech nose tackle.

There are 3 techs that are in that 310 weight class.

Lack of Weight n bulk seems still an issue at this time

Too expensive? The guy is making $1.3M this year. Mazi will not be a big play difference maker, it's just not the type of player he is. As long as Mazi is commanding double teams and keeping LBs clean he's doing his job. There really is no shame in being an average player as a tail end of the 1st rounder. This team just needs him to not be another Taco or Bobby Carpenter type of miss.

I didn’t realize he was making that little. I guess he already got the $6.6m signing bonus. It almost doesn’t seem right for a first round pick to only make $3m a year on average.

You're reading way too much into the AA blitz stuff. That wont be the base defense look, and is primarily used for passing downs. What you're likely to see in these situations is Mazi off the field, OSA and DLaw at DT.

Even in the picture in the link you shared shows #97 Everson Griffin who is naturally a DE pushed down inside. If you want to really get an idea of what Zim may ask Mazi to do and where to align I'd look for #58 Michael Pierce for that 2021 squad in pictures and film.

Zimm runs that scheme a lot.
