Twitter: McCarthy admits AT&T Stadium not a tough place to play

Fans from other teams at their home stadiums: "Destroy them! Break their legs! Send them packing home with their tail between their legs!!!" o_O

Cowboys fans at their home games: "Excuse me, could you pass me some Grey Poupon, and could you please try not to make so much noise."

This is total garbage.... but lets be real here. Stop trying to make it like the crowd makes a difference. The Seattle Seahawks easily have 1 of the top 3 best home field advantages in the NFL, right? The vaunted 12th man is so loud and causes so many penalties against opposing teams, thus killing drives due to false starts, right? Dont kid yourself. The Seahawks simply had a dominant defsne and a very good team...THAT is why they won at home. They suck right now and they are 2-4 at home. How's that 12th man working for them now?

Ive been to the Chargers, Saints, Eagles, Giants, and Raiders games this year. I was at Lambeau for the playoffs a few years back, followed by AT&T in the playoffs 2 years later against the same team. AT&T is as loud as any of the stadiums ive been to, except Seattle. The Cowboys havent won because they werent good enough.

I will say the stadium operator or whatever that person that controls the music and big screen SUCKS. They show the crowd way too much getting people so excited about being on the board they forget about the game IMO. New Orleans is GREAT. They actually did the opponent in the middle of the game comparing New Orleans to Dallas. The city, the teams and they totally do it in a way that makes the opponent look horrible. They also use the board to fire up the crowd on EVERY 3rd down. Jerry definitely needs to make an effort to hire a person that can use that technology to get the crowd going all the time.

That being said, lets not kid ourselves about the crowd. Its loud at AT&T.

you clearly dont go to games. You havent a clue of what you ware talking about.

We won't have the smartest crowd to be honest (loud when we're on offense and quite on D, I've been to 5 games and everytime I've had to tell my section to be quiet when we're driving) nor does the building acoustics (or whatever it would be) help amplify the sound. Seattle isn't louder, they just have a building they directs sound in a way to make it louder
You're right about the noise when on offense in Dallas.

Seattle's crowd noise is 100% enhanced. I sat in club seats on the 50, so I had a good view of everyone except those directly above me.

In order for the noise level to increase the way it did at times, many of the crowd would have needed to cup their hands around their mouth, or at least open it more, or stand...maybe become more animated lol....but there was very little of that.

Really, you can see tens of thousands as you pan a crowd and not many were doing much different considering how much the noise level went up.

Then it goes down, then back up...and people are doing the same thing.

I watched specifically for this repeatedly and I have zero doubt there's someone on a volume knob in that place.

That's what I was thinking. Only the fans sitting in their overpriced suites care about the noise levels. If it gets too loud they just close the doors. Most of them aren't there to watch the games in the first place, they're there for the lines of coke to snort and fake boobs to grab.

The rest of the place gets plenty loud. Unfortunately, sometimes those fools are making noise at the wrong time. I blame it on the alcohol.
alcohol surely plays apart. I myself, have only fallen over 2 rows of people 1 time......lol True story

I don’t live locally so I don’t get to go to many games but when I’ve gone to them the video board people are out of sync with the game. They have silly things going on when the game is going. They are competing with the game which confuses the crowd.

I don’t remember Texas stadium ever being considered some massive home field advantage maybe early season with the sun and heat. The thing I really recall is Dallas area cowboy fan being rather spoiled by success and “needing” something to cheer for. Heck I got security called in me by some blue hair for cheering loudly on my seat in 04. I suspect today’s game will be loud and so should any home playoff game this season. It’s a different sense of hope this go round.

The main problem with playing at Texas Stadium was the way the field crowned in the middle and sloped to the sidelines. That and the hole in the roof took some getting used to.

there is a lot of truth in what you are saying but you are exaggerating a few points quite a bit

of course you have be to good for home field to matter. If you suck, the fans won’t do any good. But if you are a good team and you have loud fans, it helps mightily.

I’ve been to some of these stadiums you have been to. I agree with you on a few things here as well. I was at lambeau for the dez catch, I was massively disappointed in that stadium. It was not intimidating one bit.

I’ve been to att stadium many times. Att stadium is dog poop, as far as atmosphere is concerned, generally speaking. But yes, there are moments where the stadium can be really really loud. Vs Philly in the playoffs in 2009 that place was absolutely jumping. But those moments are rare. The place only gets up in really really big moments in really big games. And obviously we don’t play many big games

I was just in arrowhead against the cowboys. And that place was absolutely buzzing. Easily the best stadium I ever went to.

For better or worse AT&T is more of a country club atmosphere imo

Well we will disagree on AT&T. I love it there. What was our home record in 2014 and 2016 and 2007? Probably pretty good. I guess in those 3 seasons we were importing in "Real fans." I like several stadiums actually. Loved Cleveland, hated Tampa. Love Seattle, Lambeau sucks. Keep in mind, IM basing it on EVERYTHING. Lambeau and Tampa are in the middle of NOTHING. So IM talking about the entire weekend, including the games.

Seattle, New Orleans, the New Sofi, AT&T are all great places.

Lambeau, sorry, I know it is historically significan, but it and Soldier field both suck as far as being inside watching games. You better not be a heavy guy, cause if you are and you are next to another heavy guy... lol, would love to see that as you try to cram you 46 inch waste inside the 18 inch space you get on those hard, cold bleachers you paid 300 bucks for.

AT&T is very efficient at getting 90k people in and out. Lines getting in are quick, place is spotless, restrooms are everywhere and LARGE.

yeah, you are taking way more into account than I am. I am much more simple than that.

listen, once these playoff games get going, att will be buzzing. I agree w you there. I was also there vs the packers in the playoffs in 2017. When Dallas tied the game up, the top of that place almost came off. But it didn’t matter. Rodgers did his thing and we lost. We will have an advantage from the fans once these playoff games get going. But it doesn’t get loud in there like great stadiums do on a weekly basis. That’s the difference

well when I go to games, I spend Saturday in the town hanging out with my family, so I consider that. You and I seem to go to the same games. I was at the Dez catch game in GB, I was at the playoff game against pack in 2017, and yes, Ive never been in AT&T with it any louder than what it was when we tied the game. It was awesome.
I wanted to do KC this year, but just like 4 years ago in Pittsburgh, prices were simply too much for tickets. So I skipped KC and Ill likely do the first playoff game, unless it is on Monday, in which case I wont be coming to that game.

After the dez catch and then the 2017 loss, I told myself I wouldn’t go to anymore games barring a trip to the nfc championship game. Somehow I was weaseled into going to arrowhead this year. That was the only game I’ve been to since 2017. Truth be told, I’m glad I went. The game was awful from a cowboys perspective , but that stadium and the atmosphere was special.

To each his own, and it is your money... but why would you not return for another game? It sucked losing those 2 playoff games, but they were awesome. Like I always told my softball teams, the game can not only be fun when we win.

those Ls were tough. Both of them.

For starters weather is never an issue at AT&T Stadium. Nobody wants to go to Green Bay in January and play in a ten degree blizzard.

But that is "Real," football weather. AT&T is a "Country Club."

Well my wife isnt heading to sit and freeze her arse off in GB. But she will gladly go to AT&T to watch games.
