McCarthy: Aikman's comments don't carry any weight with me

I think he'll easily get another opportunity. He's 60, so not too old. He also has way more success than those 3 you mentioned
Someone woke up on the right side of the truck bed this morning..
Plus, many say it's Jerry's fault...he won't need to worry about that at his next job.

I can't say definitely who is right, but I can see with my own eye the Cowboys WRs do not get open much. Is it route running or poor play design? I'll trust Aikman on this one.

There is clearly something seriously wrong and so far the Front Office and Coaching staff have done nothing to fix it

It is funny how everyone wants to defend Troy, until he comes out and says anything that defends Dak.

I didn't realize this threat was about Dak. I thought it was about MM and Troy Aikman. Or is every threat about Dak?

This was an intentional waste of a year whether Jerry wants to admit it or not. It was an attempt to save money to be able to afford Dak, CD and Micah moving forward.

Problem is that is not a winning combination.

At this point, Jerry and MM should just stop digging. The hole only gets deeper and deeper. Don’t have to be a dog to know it has four legs.

Both are guilty of GM and HC malpractice respectively and trying to justify this hot mess doesn’t fool anyone. Except for the usual suspects here.

Is he really getting fired or just playing out his contract?
If he gets replaced during the season, then he’s fired. If he coaches out the season and isn’t brought back then his contract wasn’t renewed.

Amari Cooper is arguably the best route runner in the league. Dak couldn't find him against zone. Cole Beasley disappeared when defenses just started shadowing him. So now Cooks, a veteran for years, can't run routes either. But let's get righ to the heart of the matter regarding Troy's quotes:

“As a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it's hard to play the position. That's what I see. I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it's because they're anticipating they're going to get the football on that play, but if they're not, they don't. And it all ties together. I'm not impressed with that part of it.”

It's not about them being lazy, its about them knowing they aren't going to get it. Which brings us to Jane Slater, who reported WRs as saying, if Dak's first read isn't there, Dak panics. You can have certain observations, but your interpretation of "why" they are happening isn't true. I'm pretty sure they are just tired of the bum behind Center not being able to see the field.

Wade Phillips would be another one. Denver, Buffalo and the Cowboys.
We need a coach that can be an *******. That gets pissed off, benches people, holds people accountable and yells at referees.

Not a clapper. Not a yes man, etc.

MM is auditioning for an extension. He has to agree and go along with everything Jerry says.

You have to know that by now as Cowboys Fans.

I can see him getting hired on by the Jags. Dak had his best years under McCarthy, he may be able to help Lawrence
Dak had a terrific rookie season under Jason Garrett and also had a 4900 yard season with 30 TDs under Garrett. He earned his first contract extension under Garrett. We haven’t been as balanced offensively under McCarthy. We’ve been much more pass happy which has increased Dak’s numbers. Zeke’s best years were under Garrett so we had a better running game. McCarthy wouldn’t succeed in Jacksonville they don’t have a very good team. Don’t think any coach is going to improve Lawrence. He’s simply not what everyone thought he was going to be. Doug Pederson was able to get a lot out of Nick Foles during Philly’s Super Bowl season.

Yes, they actually do. Several coaches have been replaced by an internal candidate, especially when someone retires.
A teams coordinator being promoted to head coach doesn’t mean the previous head coach was brought into develop them as a head coach.

It also does not mean they did not have a significant part in developing them for the promotion.

Watch the presser. He said he didn't 'agree with the language' but you could tell he didn't disagree with the message overall.

These assistant coaches aren’t being hired to be developed for a promotion on their current team. Most of them have head coaching aspirations but they’re hired to do a specific job and someday it may lead to a coaching opportunity somewhere.
