I can possibly see McCarthy as an Andy Reid type of HC, same WCO type of offense, very similiar coaching backgrounds, both have had great success in the past, similiar build lol

what say you?

No.. Andy Reid is one of the best playcallers, if not the best playcaller, in the NFL. He also makes any QB he trots onto the field play at a respectable level.

McCarthy was fired because his playcalling and designs became predictable and stale.

Why was Andy Reid fired? I believe they both got fired because they didn't meet expectations, expectations they both had set up high at some point in their respective tenures.. As much as you want to praise Andy Reid, he went 8-8 then 4-12 his last two years. Something wasn't working, and a change of scenery has helped. I think a change of scenery will also aid McCarthy.

Reid has always been a guy who was insanely pass heavy and lived and died season over season with his defense.
When defense was good they'd make deep runs, when not they'd lose in the first round.
But the offense was always good enough to keep them in playoffs or at lest contention unless QB went down with injuries.

McCarthy ran run based offenses prior to getting AR but he is passing guy at heart.
He wants to modernize whereas Reid did that but long ago.

I don't think the two will run their teams very similarly but they do have a lot in common from afar.

Andy Reid was fired because he couldn't get his team to a championship.

No coach deserves a significant amount of time if they can't win a championship.

I don't care if it's Belichick or whoever. Andy Reid is no different.

I made posts on this board that we should've hired him the day he was made available but we didn't.

Wasn’t Andy Reid fired for the same reasons in Philly? And don’t forget McCarthy has actually won a SB, Reid is still trying. I think both are good coaches with impressive resumes. Reid has no excuses now since he has perhaps the best QB in the game now.

Not only that but our new coach won the SB and Reid did not when he got there. There is that.

There has been complaints about his coaching and being too pass heavy and I think that may be fair but the guy makes his teams one of the hardest teams to defend regardless of who his QB is.

Andy Reid is brilliant but not even a brilliant coach deserves the Jason Garrett treatment if they haven't won a title.

Not Belichick.. Not anyone. Andy Reid had to be fired because he had plenty of time to get a title.

that would be acceptable.
I agree. I understand the argument against Reid - that he hasn't won a Super Bowl, but he has been one of the most consistent coaches in putting out contenders the game has seen. Only 3 losing seasons out of 21 years as a head coach, and making the playoffs in 15 of those 21 seasons at least puts his teams in a position to have a chance.

I think you guys get focus too much on results sometimes and don't pay enough attention to what the guy is doing in game.

Everyone has to get results at the end of the day but ignoring the details and just pointing to the end results is ignoring a ton of other factors.

It's like the guys who defended Garrett and ignored what guys like Romo, Dez, the Oline, and Zeke did that was 100% their talent and had almost nothing to do with the guy calling or designing plays.
