Of course he wants to play. Emmitt did it busted up. Romo did it. Not all players are built that way. Some will sit for a hangnail. It's the final decision and responsibility of doctors and coaches. Plain and simple.

"most of you didn't "want" Pollard to prove he was better than zeke".

Another bold, outright lie. You find it so easy to spew them.
Zeke needed to go, we smoked the tires off those wheels.
Got to get over the emotional connection with player name attachment, esp at the RB position.
There are no more hero's.

Fixation on fame and glamour. In the history of the NFL... Running backs are cartoon stars, in our minds.

It's delicious that offensive linemen now are valued much more and get bigger bucks.
It is the truth, so Zekes departure should be the new norm, yet we still have the Zeke poster boy fans that get to attached to players.
I would probably be considered an entire A whatever if I was a GM.
No player loyalty unless you have earned it, players like Tyron get retained for a reason.

Already said over and over and over. We did need to move on. For several reasons. I only wish we actually did. Here...we sit.

I also said zeke ain't done.

Not sure WHY...this is so unreasonable to some people. "hate" is all I can come up with.

Also you didn't need to add the apostrophe there...just sayin. :)

And here we have the people willing to fight to the death against them.

Even making up lies like when I said there's a natural "lull" right before the draft. Risen made up this dumb lie that I said it was "league enforced".

People have lost their minds...on both sides. But you only fight against the ONE unreasonable side. Very telling.

If you have no interest in discussing it or seeing it...it would greatly help things if you didn't stay on your crusade.

Loyal to the guy who can't stay on the field? If that was zeke you'd tear him to shreds throw it up in the air and let if fly away in the wind.

Of course hate is all you can come up with. Your inability to discuss Zeke objectively has been on full display for years and you chalked it all up to hate. Psst…the haters are on the right side of history in the Zeke debates.

Bravo. You do sometimes get it. But then you want us to pay big for an even older running back?
Not long term, just for a year or two.............that is because if you look at the stats, just like I did with Zeke, you can see that Derrick Henry is not on the decline "yet".

For example, Henry had 1,538 yds last year......................he had 1,540 in 2019...................that is almost the same production from 4 seasons ago.

That is why I say you have to look at production and not just age................Zeke is washed, the stats show it, however the stats also show that Henry is not washed, at least not "yet".

Anyways, this is just a friendly discussion, I'm not arguing or anything with you my friend..............have a Happy Easter:)

Good luck finding another player like Zeke.

.
Good luck? You mean good riddance? Zeke hasnt been a good player for more than 4 years.

You could actually find a RB this year in the 6th round that could replace Zeke. 3.8 ypc? Thats chicken scratch for a back in this offense.

I wouldn't brag about that Fat Mike. It makes you look like a bad coach and poor judge of talent.

Let’s not dismiss the fact Zeke wanted to play through the injury. Don’t just blame the team. Many of the “haters” wanted Zeke in street clothes while the “lovers” were bragging about his toughness because most of you didn’t want Pollard prove he was better than Zeke.

Sorry bro but this is simply untrue on a variety of levels. First there is no bigger fan of Zeke than yours truly and I screamed LOUDLY that he should not be playing with that knee injury in '21. Yes I/we admired his toughness but no one wanted to see him limping around out there and all the logical fans castigated the team for trotting him out there in that condition. As for his wanting to play? I will never "blame" a player for wanting to play.. That's the number one requirement for any player I to be on my team. I want guys who love the game and who will give a body part to be able to suit up. Those are the kind of players you win with.. Not guys who can't go because their tampon didn't fit right.

I would have been perfectly fine with Pollard starting 5-6 games in 2021 while Zeke healed up. If he showed he was better so be it. That's football. But we all know the #1 reason they kept Zeke in the line up in 2021.. It was because their $40 million a year QB was coming off an injury and they didn't trust Pollard to keep him afloat. Given that the offense literally scores 12-14 points per game less with Dak out of the lineup it was clear that keeping him upright was more important to the team than the difference between Pollard totin the rock and Zeke totin the rock. I don't have to agree with it.. but I understand. What angers me more than the fans spouting that an injured Zeke was not as good as Tony Pollard (Duh!) is that the coaching staff, training staff and front office couldn't come up with a better plan than putting an injured player out there and with it risking his long term career. They could have signed a damn fullback or something and not asked Pollard to block that much. Ruining Zeke's career because they didn't want to do that was a bad move for all involved.

Bottom line here is the NFL is a business and emotional ties to players get severed all the time. Zeke poured his heart and soul into the game and sacrificed his body for seven years for the Dallas Cowboys. As a result his effectiveness no longer matched his salary, so the team had to move on.

It sounds cold to a lot of people and I understand that, but it happens in the NFL all the time to every team and we shouldn't act surprised. Especially at RB, a position with a historically short shelf life. Long careers like Emmitt's, Frank Gore's, and LaDainian Tomlinson are the exception, not the norm.

I don't think any sane person disagrees that Zeke could not longer produce at the level his salary would dictate. I only quibble with the reasons for that... ranging from injuries to himself, o-line shuffling, and last but not least, a total and complete about face in offensive philosophy. The simple answer might be "he just got old and beat down" but frankly it's just not that simple. 5.5 ypc and second in the NFL in rushing prior to the 2021 knee injury confirm for me that it wasn't just "Zeke getting old" that led to his production dropoff. He has never returned to that level of play since that injury and that's a shame. But that's football.. and there's nothing to be done about it.. The Cowboys needed to get cheaper at the position. We all understand that. What many of us don't understand is the hate that gets spewed in Zeke's direction because of it. Dude has been a model citizen off the field for at least 4 years and has been a total warrior on the field. What more could we ask of him?
