IMHO there are two Zekes. There is pre contract Zeke. That guy was amazing. He wore belly tuxedos. He was lean and mean, fast and explosive. Then there is post contract Zeke. That guy was slow and ineffective. That is fat Zeke. If he didn't want to end up with a nickname like fat Zeke he should not have fallen all the way to 3.8 YPC and 4.0 YPT.
I’m not gonna lie I was looking at some old clips of Zeke….im not entirely sure if he was ever that fast. Some of those holes this team
Opened up for him were insane. Seems like he was more productive with a healthy interior with Fredericks out there. Not sure if that’s just coincidence or what. I’m starting to come grips I think the injuries and offensive line getting worse hurt him more than his actual skill.

Before his knee injury in 2021 Zeke was second in the NFL in rushing averaging 5.5 yards per carry. He has clearly not been anything close to that back post-injury. Even though he started out decent in 2022 that was only like a 4.2 clip not FIVE POINT FIVE!!! It saddens me that this franchise played him through that injury because I think it stole his burst .. maybe forever.. As it was they went 3-3 in the 6 games he would have missed had he sat. I dare say they could have gone 3-3 without him and then had him healthy and fresh for the stretch run. Maybe with a healthy Zeke they beat AZ and avoid that first round meeting with the Niners.. Hell maybe with a healthy Zeke they beat the Niners. You just never know. I just think they mishandled the hell out of that situation.. to the benefit of absolutely no one involved. Not Zeke.. not the team.. not the fans.. nobody. Well maybe Tony Pollard benefited because he was not asked to shoulder the load for 6 games which probably would have robbed him of his explosiveness and the fan base probably would have turned on him too.

Can you give him 15 carries a game and get 4.5 YPC anymore? There has to be a plan to keep him upright and manage his injuries because when he is hurt he sucks.

Lot of whining about Zeke hate. At this point I imagine there is. That said, many posters tried to give objective criticism and were labeled haters as well, dating back to 2017 when it was clear Zeke was slower than in 2016 and had put on weight. But, in 2017, you had to claim “Zeke is the best in the league” or you were a hater. The debates kept morphing over the years all while the objective stats and advanced analytics pointed to the “haters” being right and the Zeke lovers grasping at subjective excuses that sounded good but weren’t supported with facts, like “stacked boxes”.

The reality is there was never any criticism of Zeke tolerated by the current fans still whining about “haters”. Any criticism, whether warranted or not, was treated the exact same way. Same reaction any criticism of players like Romo and Dez got from his diehard fans.

Some of the ignorance on this forum is unbelievable. Your honest opinion is never uplifting. You and a few others post to spew opinionated garbage.

If you can not admit that his production went from extraordinary to pathetic in a very short period of time then you have your eyes closed. You can make whatever excuses you want but it does not change the reality.

He hyper extended his knee. Missed some games over it.

They can "leave the door open" all they want but I doubt Zeke will be likely to take this team up on such kindness.

Once discarded, it would seem most likely that it'd never be the same. Maybe it's just said to appease some fans.

I suspect Ezekiel Elliott has far too much pride to come crawling back. I think some team will pay him moderately.

I never denied his production fading, but I also choose not to demean or denigrate his contribution, effort, and character. If you want reality; I say that he is a fool for sacrificing his career for this organization.
