McCarthy expected to become free agent and talk with Bears and Saints

So basically Jerry denied access for MM to interview elsewhere which only puts MM at a disadvantage to get a new role, and it also puts the Cowboys behind the rest of the league in starting their new search for a HC. Jerry's fine negotiation skills have managed to hurt both sides and benefitted no one. We are certainly in good hands.

I will say that McCarthy seems to be an ideal fit for the Chicago job though. If he gets a real chance there he should take it and not look back.

2025 season off to a great start! Can’t wait to see what bozo we hire to watch Jerry land his stupid helicopter on the field during practice

I'm guessing it's midnight tonight.

We are in the last hours of the Mike McCarthy era.

This is sad.

Time to start the process of lining up interviews.

Ben Johnson may have too steep and asking price. But, I'd still bring him in to pick his brain about his offensive philosophy, roster building thoughts, etc.

I'd use all the interviews for informative purposes.
Johnson has already informed teams he wants complete roster control. No point in even interviewing here.

They are probably the two candidates.

I just wish they were fatter.
I'm sure Jerry had to factor in the budget he has for Uncrustables in the McCarthy negotiations which is why he low balled him. Now he can open his wallet back up for a real coach!

Yeah honestly Johnson is in such a good position he doesnt need to take an interview with the Cowboys that he knows wont work out. That dude can be very selective this offseason and if he doesnt get what he wants he goes back to a loaded offense and evaluates the market in 2026, similar to what DQ did.
