With Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy eligible to talk to other teams after midnight Tuesday, there still haven’t been any negotiations on a new deal with Dallas, per sources. It’s now looking like McCarthy will indeed become a coaching free agent, with Chicago and New Orleans both expected to be interested in speaking with him.

ok so say he leaves and in 3 years time in a championship game. will the Jones finally admit they suck as GM and step aside.

So they never even started negotiating is how I’m reading that? That would make denying the Bears interview far worse. And just further prove Jerry is all about theatrics and media headlines. Just make a decision, no need to have this “looming deadline.” They’ve had months to decide if they wanted McCarthy back or not.

Also terrifies me that Jerry probably already knows who the next coach is going to be if they aren’t in a rush to get interviews started

Well, Mike's two assistants are in the division round. One has taken a franchise that was in the dumps to their first playoff win since 2005. I'd say that should show it, but the NFC North, who we play next year, will be even harder to compete against if Mike goes there.

Hope this is true. Time to move on. Give us something to look forward to this off season, besides the non moves the team makes.

Does anybody reading this think Jerry and his son had a plan in place in case McCarthy said no?

They are flabbergasted right now.

Hey, Dad! Did you know this chair swivels? Sweet.

Belichick's contract at North Carolina includes a $10 million buyout if he leaves prior to June 1, 2025, though it's not entirely clear whether it would apply if he returns to the NFL in the coming weeks. Either way, it's a fraction of Belichick's salary by the end of his Patriots tenure, making it relatively easy to get out of, whether an NFL team or Belichick himself pays the buyout.
With few successful NFL head coaches currently available, at least one other team also has continued to check in on Belichick's status.

If you told me six months ago he'd be gone, I would be happy.

After Jerrys recent comments about not paying coaches, I am pretty sure whoever they hire will be a downgrade.

It's going to be Moore or Zimmer.
