I think Jerry absolutely wanted Mike back but on a shorter, incentive-laden contract. He was using the deadline as leverage. That lines up with a lot of the rumors.

That flew out the window when the Bears and Saints expressed interest, and Mike realized he could get a more standard 5 year deal elsewhere.

There are tons of things wrong with the Jones family obviously. I think I am going to be on the sidelines and not invested until they treat the team with the complexities and preparation of a fortune 100 company and not a Burger King when they need to decide when to order more lettuce.
