Not sure why they even bothered to talk if they were just going to let him walk over a term limit.
I wasn't in the room but IMHO, they could have easily worked that out. Like agreeing on 3 years with an option for 2 more if his record was = to or > X# of wins/playoff wins etc..

Wouldn't surprise me if McCarthy was irked about no extension last year and having to coach a lame duck season. Probably wanted something more solid/guaranteed and Jerry balked.

Length of years figured to be a sticky point. Mike wants 4 or 5. Jerry wants 2 or 3.

think about the other openings...Jets - crap, Jax - probaby the best potential but its a hole, Chicago - wont be winning any time soon.

At least Dallas has a lot of cap money, a starting qb (hopefully), some very big pieces on both sides of the ball and the appeal of "dallas"....

Yep, Jerry wants to look smart for extending Dak, so that will be his main focus...pushing KM up the list behind Gruden.
