All teams need to get over that. In fact, some good teams have been doing this in recent years.

Hopefully Schoonmaker shows something in preseason this year.

If he does not and 3 of the other TEs play better, then they need to move on without him or at least move him to the PS and if another team grabs him, so be it.

So far, I think there are at least 3 TEs and a full-back better than him and he cannot stay healthy.

As I said in another post, hopefully he shows something in preseason this year, but if not ...

They’ll probably give him at least this season to come around. They appear to value his blocking and are hoping that will help with the running game. I said the day we drafted him, I would’ve never made the pick. We seem to like to throw away second round picks on TE’s. This is the fourth second round pick we’ve used on a TE since Anthony Fasano in 2006. The others didn’t pan out and I don’t see this one working out any better. It certainly hasn’t so far.

Or the fact he has only been a Cowboy for 15 months?

How many 2nd round picks are cut in year 2? Exactly.

I would money on it. He isn't seriously hurt and has had a decent camp.

That’s the deal you don’t see second round picks get cut after only one season. Now had he been a fourth round pick or later he would probably be in some trouble right now. This is a pretty deep TE group and him always dealing with injuries isn’t helping him. Everything is pointing to him having a short career with the Cowboys.

He’s not seriously hurt but these nagging injuries are setting him back, keeping him out of practice. Since last summer he’s dealt with plantar fasciitis, a hamstring, a shoulder and now a groin. We have a deep TE group. Again, I’m not saying he’s going to be cut.

He has had a good camp.

Lol, Schoonmaker is on the team. He hasn't been bad in camp and he isn't seriously hurt. You can watch practice yourself.

It really comes down to whether he was actually 2nd round talent to begin with. He may ultimately be worth the pick, but so far he has not shown anything to justify it.

A team that recognizes they made a mistake and moves on instead of caring more about avoiding criticism for admitting the mistake is able to move on and improve.

The 49ers did this with Lance and so far, it's looking like they were very smart to do so. Again, that may change at some point as well, but until it does ...

Personally, I hope Schoonmaker gets healthy and shines in preseason or at least shows some real promise because otherwise that will have been a wasted pick.

Until that happens though, he is further down the depth chart.
 
I’m pretty excited to see Zeke rejuvenate his career. I’ve said before I think his approach is going to be different. He also looks pretty fresh I think he’s gonna have a solid year. I know I’m in the minority with this take, but Zeke by all accounts seems to be a team guy and loves this franchise.
