McClain tweet Saturday morning - sounds like he wants to play

Hopefully he takes a level headed approach to this. If he's injured and can't play (without severely pushing it), then he doesn't need to push it and possibly injure himself further. He should realize we're playing the Rams which are one of the easiest games we'll have this year, we should be able to win this one whether he plays or not. I know he wants to compete and help his team, but get healthy for when we need you against New Orleans, Seahawks, Eagles, Bears, Colts, ect; It wouldn't help this team one bit if he played this week at 70% and injured himself even more where he'd completely miss the Saints games the week after. Be smart about it.

Vegas doesn't look at games and JUST or even primarily wonder if games will be close or not. They're just trying to get even money to come in on both teams.

True, but if it takes a 1 point spread to get people to bet the Cowboys, that is telling. The only point I'm trying to make is there is a notion floating around that this is an easy game. It's not.

We could sit him after blowing them out by the half; would rather have him on the field. Yeah, it's the Rams, but we're the Cowboys...

We should win the game. Home, Away in London or on the moon.

If we don't....with our schedule...well time to adjust even the most modest of expectations.

For someone who, before coming to Dallas, had such a reputation for being unreliable, Rolando acts far more like one you'd never dream would ever have previously created such an image. The old cliche that states how ''a leopard can't change his spots'' certainly would appear to be losing all validity with this guy.

Jerry Jones maintained just the other day how, if it were up to Rolando, he'd opt to play regardless of how he felt. It's not too difficult to understand where this comes from, judging from his actions. Evidence of his passion for the game is now being reflected in everything he says and does. Personally, I couldn't be more pleased by the gratifying turnaround of someone with his history. He seems sure to be a fan favorite, if he's not already.

Which also means...sadly...that the Cowboys who usually bring in a lot of retail betting dollars....are not right now. And deservedly so...

Actually, no it doesn't mean that at all.

If the Cowboys weren't bringing in much money, you would see bigger spreads and wilder numbers to entice more people to bet. Closer spreads generally mean there is a lot of activity.

The defense looks a lot different with McClain out there, rather than rookies Hitchens or Keith Smith. Any team is going to struggle with injuries to your top MLBs (Lee and now McClain.)

A closer spread means there is more activity so the house isn't having to throw around wild numbers or big spreads. If there was very little activity, you would see larger spreads one way or the other to drum up activity.

Case in point, what are you more willing to jump at, the Cowboys -7/ or the Cowboys -1?

It's not just activity though, it's balanced activity. Which means a lot of people who bet think this is going to be a close game.

Good question as I was following a different twitter account of McClain's. Mike Fisher retweeted it, if that means anything.

@fishsports: I don't think @RMcClain205 positive tweet applies to #cowboys playing this week. But it's still a wonderful expression & a cool tweet

And @RMcClain205: @fishsports you are probably right..

I know how it works. I worked with a bookie for quite a while when I was bartending.

This will, and should be a close game.

As much as I want to believe the whole 'where there's a will there's a way' thing I have to see him dressed and on the field before I really think he's going to play Sunday.

I think you're right in not falling for that idea. I didn't take his tweet to mean he's going to play but rather that he appreciates feeling healthy again. The decision is up to Garrett but if it were up to me, I'd prefer to play it safe and save him for the rest of the season rather than playing him now and taking a chance of losing him for the many games that remain.

Well, I think that has something to do with the media blaring that we have the worst defense in the league for the last month....starting well before the real games did.

Since surprisingly no one else has, I will take the negative side....

What if maybe he isn't hurt that bad and is just milking it...too hurt for practice but ok to play. How would you feel about that?

If the game against the Rams is such a lay-up why does Vegas say we are just a 1 point favorite? In contrast, the Patriots are 14 point favorites against the Raiders.

In other words, if McClain can play, trot him out there. We need him on that wall.

Agreed.

When you only have a 16 game schedule... each and every game is critical.

Going into the Saint game 2-1 is a damn sight better than being 1-2.

Those reports were overblown.

He was drafted the same year as Lee. McClain has started 40 games and Lee has started 32.
