McClain tweet Saturday morning - sounds like he wants to play

Its still only two games so the glow hasn't worn off, but at this point you have to think most of the problem before was the Raiders and not McClain.

Yep. Hard to judge a player when he plays in a mess like Oakland. And I thought Dallas was a circus.

Actually, no it doesn't mean that at all.

If the Cowboys weren't bringing in much money, you would see bigger spreads and wilder numbers to entice more people to bet. Closer spreads generally mean there is a lot of activity.

Not when your team is playing the Rams...who are a horrendous team and starting their 3rd string QB.

The line is so close to entice Cowboys bets. We should be a 4 point favorite over this squad. At least. But we aren't. Because the public doesn't trust this team.

The 49ers are 3 point favorites over the home Cardinals, the Colts are 7 point favorites over the home Jaguars, the Ravens are 1.5 point favorites over the home Browns, the Texans are 1 point favorites over the home Giants this week. The swing for a home team is usually 3 points. In Seattle or a city like that it will be more.

Long story short, Vegas thinks this will be a close game. That is an objective, non-Cowboy fan goggle view of this game. If we lose this game, it will define the rest of the season. Ie. 8-8 or worse, no playoffs. If we win, the dream lives on another week.

Yes, the away team is favored in 4 of 16 games. Great argument.

He ain't playing. Doesn't matter, the defense has been playing above its head for the last two weeks. They need to keep doing it or we lose. Same with running the ball. One guy doesn't win a game.

Liking this dude more and more each week. Hope his passion and enthusiasm continues as the season wears on. It seems like he genuinely likes being a part of this team and playing ball.

Just shut up and play! :p

If there's one thing I give Garrett credit for it's not looking head. Dude is all about one day at at time, one game at a time. I feel like I can confidently say he's 100% focused on the Rams right now. If McClain is held out Sunday, I doubt the Saints have anything to do with it.

Yep, the process is all about stacking good days on good days. Maybe that process is only capable of getting to 8-8 tho. Maybe a lil big picture view by the HC would allow him to get beyond 8-8.

Or maybe some more talent on the defensive side of the ball would do the trick.

Just my opinion.

That is a little short sighted considering what our defense has been through the last 2 seasons. Winning 8 games a year with a historically bad defense could be considered an accomplishment.

Those reports were overblown.

He was drafted the same year as Lee. McClain has started 40 games and Lee has started 32.

Don't know what reports you're referring to unless it's those of the past. My overall outlook didn't really concern Rolando's past. They were solely in reference to the player he has evidently become in the present, not the the player he was. Granted, he has much to prove before this newfound rep is in the books but his head seems in a much better place at present. What happened in Oakland I couldn't care less about. What's important is the player we got, not so much the player he left behind.

You isolated my opening statements out of overall context. I certainly wasn't knocking Rolando. Read the next paragraph and you'll discover he was being praised generously. I would agree the Raiders may have been at fault but we don't know the entire story on that. The present is what my focus is really about, not the past. As far as I'm concerned this is a new start for McClain. The old stories are now a non-factor as far as I'm concerned.

I guess its all in perspective. Im of the impression that going into year 4 1/2 of the process the defense should have been addressed more if its been so historically bad. And thats even considering all the injuries, especially to the DL which was our strength.

A) If he is injured and wants to play with his heart and not his head, he shouldn't play
B) If his chances of NOT making the injury worse are close to 100%, let him play
C) The team should feel they can win the game regardless of their MLB being able to play (in other words, he shouldn't be the deciding factor)
- thus, make a FOOTBALL decision on whether to play him or not

none of us really know, but I am sure the coaches and player know...if he is able to go, let him play....sets an example to the others and strikes a blow to the notion of the team being "soft"

Maybe going into year 4 1/2 of the process that should have already been addressed.

It should be obvious that the defense hasn't been poor due to a lack of attention being placed on that side of the ball. The defense has been addressed. The FO has spent draft picks, invested in free agent acquisitions, coaching changes, etc, to improve the D. Why have they been so poor? Obviously some of those investments weren't the right ones.

It's not as though they've neglected the defense. They just haven't made the right choices.

Like someone else already pointed out, your original statement was short sighted.

Your past matters. Try getting a job without giving out your prior work history. It's complete fan nonsense to say his prior years in the NFL don't matter.

Based on his tweet, it looks like he is putting his faith in the right place.
