Don't take this post as creating an excuse for the awful showing yesterday--just merely an observation.

McFadden looked slow to me yesterday. Anyone else think the same?

I have no idea why we could not run the ball yesterday...I hope someone will look at some film and tell us why.

The Bucs stacked the box and were showing blitz.

It was like watching the Eagles with the old Jim Johnson defense.

You're not going to be able to run against that very well unless you start to get some quick hitters. I thought Cassel and the receivers were clearly not on the same page in hitting those so the Bucs kept stacking the box, showing A-Gap blitzes and the running game never stood a chance.

I don't think the O-Line played bad at all, but the skill position players needed to do better.

This is coaching. McFadden has never been a bell cow, every down back, and yet we're relying solely on him to take nearly every carry for the whole game. What did we even get CM for if we're not going to split carries and lessen McFadden's workload? If McFadden gets injured, who is going to run?

We got CM thinking he was a better back than he was.

Seems pretty clear that he is not as good as they thought or they would play him more.

How do we even know what he is if he doesn't even see the field for more than 1 carry? And if he's not cutting it, why haven't they found someone else to help split the load with McFadden? Expecting an injury prone McFadden to hold up the whole season where he is getting EVERY carry is not solid strategy.

I didn't get to watch the game yesterday. Was the new RB Williams active and did he get any snaps?

We need a real running back in a bad way. And now we need a guy that can break tackles in the backfield and create his own holes it seems.

Looks slow indeed, especially for a guy who is supposed to be fast. He is nothing more than a temporary band aid. Add the RB position to the "needed list" in the offseason via draft or FA.

I noticed he wasn't running as hard as he was, stacked box or no stacked box. He had a few good runs, but plenty of runs where he looked very average.

Well there is a reason we didn't want to pay Murray...running backs have a shelf life to about 27 if they are lucky besides some cases. McFadden is 28 so...

I still believe McFadden was signed to replace Randle, the team wanted to draft a RB but the draft didn't fall that way. The RB position got out of whack in the draft once the Rams made Gurley a top 10 pick, everyone's value increased.

If we decide to go the FA route for running back, there may be a couple decent options out there. Doug Martin and Lamar Mill are enticing names that could see the open market.

Getting CM was out of desperation for not getting a dependable back in the offseason. We were so enamored by the thought that anyone can run behind this oline. Too bad that was a wrong assumption and it has taken this team onto a downhill path.

They need to try and get the ball to DMC in space to use his speed more...with Romo back, this should loosen up the defense.....He was getting hit in the backfield more than not on Sunday..

Another thing to consider is that TB has very fast LBs. Probably the fastest group we will see all year. So they are able to meet the RB at the LOS before he can cut it loose. But I do agree with the OP that DMC didn't seem to have that juice we've seen in recent weeks.

I agree, you take an injury prone back who never had 25 carries and give him 30 plus all the blitz pickups which also take their toll on a running back.

It is sad that JG can never find a roll for fringe players to contribute. You saw it with MartyB and Harris. You see it with Escobar, CM and other players.
