I surely do not understand it.

We said all season and off-season we ere going to run by committee.

But what we do is just give one back the ball and hope like with Murray.

I do not understand this team.

Either do what you are going to do or just shut up about it and doon't be so disingenuous about it.

It has to be confusing for the team, too.

Run these guys and find ways to open up the play calling and utilize them.

***.

This ^^^^^

Even team with top notch running backs spread the carries around more. So we come out with a plan to run by committee, then we don't do it and our RB with 30 carries/games doesn't have fresh legs...Amazing...Wow, how did that happen. Has Smith even gotten a carry since he's been here? Maybe like Cassel, he can't find a coach to coach him? If you don't think CMike or Smith can help carry the load, why are they here?

Who is making these decisions?

This has always been the trend for McFadden, especially as a feature back. Some games he looks like the second coming of LT.. other games he looks like he did against the Bucs. Staff is not doing a good job of spelling him at all. It'll be interesting to see if he bounces back against Miami.

Garrett has proven time and time again that he doesn't know how to run a committee.

For sure.

At first the Committee was Randle who got all the carries.

Now it's McFadden.

We have at least 2 other backs healthy as horses who do nothing.

Is our offense that tough?

Or is it too complicated that the assignments require too much from the RB to do it?

Then simplify it and put them in the game.

This is luney to me.

And it has to be confusing for the players involved.

How do you keep their heads in the game if you won't call their number?

I just don't think we situationally have a feel for the Macro things.. Much less the Micro things like subbing RB's in and out of a game.

Don't worry though.. Romo is about to save them all.

Don't take this post as creating an excuse for the awful showing yesterday--just merely an observation.

McFadden looked slow to me yesterday. Anyone else think the same?

He's a strider who takes time to get up to speed, but once there is still quick for his age. Contrast him to the Bucs RB who seemed to be at full speed when he hit the hole.

Another thing to consider is that TB has very fast LBs. Probably the fastest group we will see all year. So they are able to meet the RB at the LOS before he can cut it loose. But I do agree with the OP that DMC didn't seem to have that juice we've seen in recent weeks.

Couple that with our reluctance to not telegraph where the run is going. At least to my eyes , it appears that the LB's are heading for the whole immediately when the ball is snapped, as they have been positioned there pre snap....

Agreed.

And I don't know by who's authority these non-decisions are being made..

by the position coach or the OC or the HC.

Ultimately I want to say it's Garrett's decision but I think he gives alot of responsibility to his assistants..

so hard to pinpoint who is doing it.

I realize Garrett compartmentalizes stuff and gives these coaches alot of autonomy.

But frankly..DMAC is not expected to carry the ball effectively for 20+ a game game after game.

He won't last and then we will be down to our 2 remaining guys for the rest of the season and have to play them regardless.

Why force that.?

Another thing that has been disappointing with DMAC to me has been his lack of use as a receiver.

He needs to be in open space and get him the ball where he's not being hit 3 and 4 times.

Hopefully, Romo will pump this up.

Dunbar is injured. Randle got fired. We don't really have the backs for a committee.

Understood.

But to me the mistake is in believing that Dunbar could really last at the position or that Randle could stay out of trouble was a complete disaster.

Now that is being compounded by running DMAC too much and surely that is going to backfire, too.

We'll see.

I think McFadden was the best back on our roster the day they signed him and should have been the starter from day one. Dunbar the change of pace. Randle the backup. Now that we cut Michael, I am hopeful that we give Trey an opportunity.

McFadden was never a real shifty guy and never had great initial acceleration (from stop). But if he could get enough space to get going, he had an excellent top gear. Of course, he hasn't held up well in the NFL and doesn't have that breakaway speed anymore. He's serviceable for now, but there is great concern for how long?

To me he is nothing more than temporary. Add RB to the list of needs in the offseason.

I'm with you on DMac.

He has a decent chance of still getting 1000 yds with us and if he survives and can contribute that going down the stretch..

then of all the RBs he would be worth keeping.

Trey..? I know nothing except it's said he's sort of a Dunbar clone.

Which is fine with me if he can not disappear like Dunbar always seemed to.

I have my doubts about us running the ball when Romo returns.

I think we will see him throw 40+ passes a game and DMAC will be lucky if he gets 50 yds a game.

Erm...one of the glaring deficiencies of this offense has been its' predictability; 3 back-to-back runs up the middle following a field goal block, zero slant routes, and continually passing short of the first down marker on 3rd and long just to name a few. Simplifying further certainly won't help.

yeah I think he was tired, plus not enough carries, and TB was putting more guys in box than we could block.
both teams played good run defense

Matt Forte, Chris Ivory, Doug Martin, Lamar Miller, Alfred Morris, Blount, and C.J. Anderson will all be available after this season (If they don't get locked up by their teams, that is).

I'd like us to give a real good look at Forte, Miller, and Morris while still drafting an RB high.

Forte is at the age that he could decline really quickly. Ivory is probably looking at a big money deal and probably will get it with NY. Miller could be the one to take a look at and the Dolphins have a young guy in Ajayi that has looked good when he got on the field. I think Morris is one of those guys that is a fringe guy talentwise...think he is on the decline already. CJ Anderson has been hard to figure this year. Martin is a decent back.
