Just got home from the game and it's official, Joe Randle cannot pass block!

He can't pass block and DMC has only played one full season since 2008. So when DMC gets hurt, Randle will be our starter and still not be able to pass block. That is all scary to me.

I understand the concern.. But the same could have been said last year too.

My hunch is that our play action effectiveness will be much lower this year. Hopefully lots of other things (primarily on D) become clear to help compensate for that dropoff.

I think we were more effective with PA the years prior to last. We used it more often last year, but I don't think we were as effective with it.

McFadden was impressive with his speed and burst, but again, he went down when faced with resistance.

I don't know what to make of it at this stage. It looked like we were running completely different plays between the two of them.

Neither player really did anything special.
Randle looked really bad and DMC just ran through big gaping holes. If our Oline consistently makes huge holes like that every single game we are fine. If we ask DMC to do some juke moves and find tough yards, we may be asking for too much.

Yeah, no, sorry. If you're going to be a starting RB you need to make something out of nothing, he did that last week when he reversed direction and picked up a few yards. It's what made our last RB, he's not allowed to be named here because members are really sensitive about it, productive in many situations. And then out of his six carries, one of those carries he ran straight into the back of our offensive lineman, when to the left of him was a nice sized hole that he could have fit through and picked up some decent yards making his night look far more impressive.

Randle simply just didn't capitalize on his chances this week like he did in the last game. I was critical of McFadden last week, so much so saying I would have rather have just let him walk, but he produced with the carries he got and him having holes has nothing to do with the speed he showed and the cuts he was making.

Take into account that Randle didn't look very good with his blitz pickup and you start to understand why McFadden will be the starter on opening day.

lies... I hate when ppl do that. McFadden has produces a whole career (several years) of season shortened by injury. DeMarco is not in that same category....

I'm probably beating a dead horse but Randle looks small and his running/blocking in a word looks weak. You can rest assured teams will attack his pass blocking by blitzing early on.

McFadden can hit the crease like a race car but will trip if there is a gust of wind.

The OL will have to be even better this season.

The starts McFadden has had throughout his career isn't the issue, it's the lingering issues that hampered his performance while playing in games that has been the issue.

It's one thing to miss games, it's another when you come back and still look hampered by the injury. I already expect McFadden will miss 3-6 games this year, what I don't want to happen is in those 10-13 games he does play that injury prevents him from being productive.

Im really not excited at all about what we have, and I would be very happy if our starting HB isnt on the roster right.

For me McFadden's durability and power running are an issue. I was dead wrong about him not having any juice left. He looks fast out there. But I think at this stage of his career he is a #2 guy. A very good one, but a #2 guy.

Randle is probably not awful, but he just doesn't have the skill set to be a lead back. Right now I think his place in the NFL is what he was last year. A solid COP for a grinder type

Our zone blocking looked nice yesterday.

After the SF game many were down on McFadden and touting Randle now it's McFadden hands down. After watching Randle miss another block that got Romo sacked on the Cowboys first possession that was called back McFadden may end up starting.

IF I were making the decisions at this point, Dunbar would be the odd man out and I'd be all over the waiver wire looking for a decisive physical bruiser in the mold of a LeGarrette Blount or similiar. I'm an Arkansas guy, love Darren and was happy to see him look good yesterday, but I'm a Cowboy fan and realistic.
