As i posted yesterday, do you guys think Murray will sign with us or someone today? I'm so tired of waiting to see what happens with this guy its not even funny anymore.

I really think the Murray situation is holding us hostage in FA at this point, I think we couldve made a move or two yesterday and today.

Nope.

And not signing Murray didn't hold us hostage yesterday. Sure we could have made some moves but we don't overpay on the first day of FA any more.

Players want guaranteed money more than anything else. Organizations want players that are a good value for production as it pertains to the cap. On a high character guy like Murray, (and similar players) Why not offer the guy a lower salary number per year, in Murray's case say 4.75 million (or some other number that the Cowboys are willing to live with) per year for 4 years with all of it guaranteed. The player gets the security he wants and the player, if healthy, will play out his contract all the way to the end, and there is no dead money.

The only drawback is that if the player can't play due to injury or loss of skills then the team ends up with dead money and is on the hook for the actual salary. But with a guy like Murray a deal like this might benefit both sides. Moreover, with each year that the player performs, the risk to the team goes down.

I think you answered your own question:

The risk of injury and loss of skills in Murray's case is fairly high due to age and injury history. That, and the fact that the Cowboys apparently attribute much of his success last season to the O-Line, are why I believe they are unwilling to provide a lot of guaranteed money.

PFT saying that Jags unlikely to sign Murray, but that could change. LOL. Really? You have to wonder if Murray is telling them "no" or if he has been offered something at this point?

Jags, Murray currently “not likely,” but could change

As running back DeMarco Murray tries to parlay an NFL-leading 1,845 rushing yards into a new contract, various teams are interested. But not yet at the compensation level Murray desires.

The Raiders are involved, and the Cowboys would like to keep Murray around, on their terms. The Jaguars also are interested.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, it’s currently “not likely” that Murray will join the Jaguars. But that could change.

Looking like Murray doesn't want to go to a cellar team or he would have signed by now. He stays in Dallas for a reasonable price :)

He would go to a cellar team if they offered him the money he and his agent thought they were going to get or better.

My guess is he and his agent are not seeing the offers they wanted to see.

That was my point, the money isn't there to go to a losing team. It is not substantially better.

Murray would be crazy to do that. if the Jags are willing to pay him, i would take the money. with the cowboys doing nothing again in free-Agency. this team may take a step back this year. an unhappy Demarco and Dez, won't be good for this team.

Any contenders aside from Philly talking to Murray? (and yes despite what Philly has done lately I still, begrudgingly, consider them some kind of threat. They always are)

So much speculation over a 2nd level talent. It's pretty obvious the league does not value Murray the way he and his agents value himself. This team needs def talent and it's a little discouraging there is no talk anywhere about D and def players. Today's rumors

Hardy bengals and raiders
Clayborne falcons
Lofton and Dan Williams agree with raiders
Knight on and cox Commanders

With Ryan Matthews signing in Philly, watch out for San Diego swooping in... If not, I see him resigning here
