Yea, he was only NFL offensive player of the year. who cares about him not coming back.(sarcasm) some of you people are just unreal.

Did he win the award completely by himself? Good back. I want him back at a reasonable price. But I do not see him as irreplaceable. I'm also not paying him off the past but what he might do in the future. Running backs have a short shelf life and running backs are perhaps the easiest position to replace in the draft.

I'm getting concerned about Murray. He might be back here with a huge chip on his shoulder.

I don't think he's getting interest. I think his agent is floating stories that he is, but the interest is lukewarm at best. Teams just don't see a $8-9 million running back in him. They seem him around $5-6 million, and they think Dallas will match, so why bother. Indy didn't bother, nor has Arizona. Philly never called, I don't think, which leaves the dregs of Oakland and Jax. I don't think he wants to play for either.

Meanwhile, I'm not so sure that Dallas doesn't privately wish one of those teams would offer a huge contract, so the Cowboys could back away without criticism from the fan base. I think they want to get in on Peterson or draft a young RB to go with a young line.

My gut now says Murray is back on a deal half of what he was seeking. Jerry might throw in another 1/2 million to make him feel better.

Conflicting reports everywhere.

If this is true, Raiders are beyond help especially when they have a more than capable Murray of their own. If DM goes there, JJ should take advantage quickly and trade for LMurray.

Just to put this out there, if Murray walks and we give Minny a 2nd round pick for AP, are people happy about that?

I'm not.

Hu? The Cowboys are looking for a way to let him down easy? Yet Garret goes and meets him in a private room at a basketball game.
Since when is Jerry afraid to just let a player move on? Who was that DE that left last year? Oh yeah, home grown Ware.

Actually I wouldn't have minded picking up Roy Helu.

Heck no! I wouldn't be happy giving up any draft pick lower than a 5th for AP and that contract of his. I would hope a restructure would be required and one that gives JJ an out after 2 years to some degree.

What do YOU mean by YOU people?!?!?!

The people who keep telling other cowboys fans that we don't need the any of the big time impact players in free-Agency. and the people who don't think we should bring back the NFL offensive player of the year. and those who think we should not give one of the best WR in football a long term deal. that's what i mean when i say you people.

Murray had a much better season than Ware's final 2-3 years here.

I think Dallas would love to have Murray for $4 million. They could still get in on Peterson if they wanted, or draft a RB.

But they don't think Murray is irreplaceable, and they don't think teams are clamoring for him. That much is clear.

This was exactly my thinking on previous page and in earlier posts. I think Cowboys have always thought he's bolt, they'd save cash and get someone else. Now I can easily see them offering around $5-6 and getting him because the market isn't there. The only way I don't see this happening is DM's agent tells him "you've had injuries, this contract takes you into your 30s, get paid one last time."

Me either... but in place of Dunbar or whoever our 3rd rb would be depending on Randle's status.

Randall and Dumbar are back-ups in the NFL. and that's all they will ever be.the idea you replace Murray with either of those scrubs is a joke.

He was the Offensive Player of the Year last year. You don't pay him for last year. You pay him for what he'll do next.

And several running backs could have won that award last year here. That's what Dallas thinks, you can tell.

Murray had one really good year behind the best offensive line in the NFL, and you want to pay him like he's Jim Brown?

NFL Offensive player of the year ? Really what does that mean except a nice trophy and accolades from people who have no clue about sports... Did he do it himself ? Does he play tennis ,Golf ,Bowling ? NO its a TEAM sport that he had the advantage of running through lanes that a semi could have gone thru!!!! Get another RB in there that wont kill us against the cap or better draft and develop one like this guy was ...... BTW he wasn't healthy his whole career here and he played this year cause it was a contract year, Big contract are you nuts !!!!! Goodbye good luck lets move on and get a SB

I'll give you that. But I doubt they are just being nice. Players want him back, coaches want him back even Jerry said yesterday he wants him back.
Price is the issue. The aren't secretly hoping he gets a deal some where else. Sounds like they are hoping he doesn't.

Yep.

I think Dallas is fine with him staying, and fine with him going, but they see lots of alternatives and no need to fork over huge cash to an older back with an injury history.

And apparently, the rest of the NFL agrees.
