Mel Kipers idea to mandate bringing safeties closer to the line of scrimmage to get rid of the two high safety defense reminds of people who want to outlaw the defensive shift in baseball . In other words you scout a hitters tendencies and shift players into positions the batter is likely to hit to .

The two high safety in football the defensive shift in baseball are nothing more than teams wanting to play sound defense . Now it’s up to you on offense to counteract that plain and simple . Kiper reminds me of Skip Bayless although Kiper does provide insight on the NFL draft , not sure what Bayless brings to the table .
its like how long the NBA banned the zone Defense

I agree. Positioning on the field is part of defense. But I don't believe the problem is created by two high safeties. It's the lack of really good QBs throughout the league. Forget future hall of famers, we don't even have a lot of really good QBs out there anymore.

You may have hit on a key point Flamma . As a QB as an OC it’s your job to counter the deep safeties and stuff that defense with underneath throws or run the ball effectively.

With Jerry not taking a Braelon Allen as example in the draft Baltimore will play two high safeties counting on being able to stop Dallas RB’s with the front 7.

The OP who started this thread thank you . It’s a different topic that does affect the Cowboys and the highest paid QB but doesn’t hit you over the head with the obvious .

Without stats this is pure speculation.

What is Kiper's ISP? How about his L/C ratio?

The stats may paint a completely different picture than the ear test.

I can't stand the guy, but even I have to admit his story is pretty insane in that he kind of created a whole industry (in depth draft coverage) AND he did it with basically no qualifications.

There was a guy in Maryland forgot his name who had a complete basement on JFK files as it relates to 11/22/63. He became an expert on the topic people sought out who were investigating the topic writing books etc .

Kiper who I believe is from Baltimore in his own way by studying college football turned himself into a “ go to guy “ when it came to the draft . He parlayed that into I’m sure a lucrative TV job , Probably got to meet Suzie Kobler Hannah Storm . Got to sit in a studio with Chris Berman and debate the merits of taking a safety from William & Mary ….

Kipers complaint is the two high safeties is robbing the NFL of much needed offense .
My take is it’s guys like MM job to figure it out and design an offense that forces the safeties up . Kubiak had a TD on the board before the National Anthem was over . He had no trouble smacking 44 on the scoreboard .

And you even told him!!!!!!!!!!

However, you simply cannot converse w/ the agenda drivel posters.

Honestly, it's also kinda comedic seeing who here 1. Doesn't read the OP and 2. Don't have a sense of humour when I literally spelled out that this is a comedic thread for those who may not be able to recognize a joke straight away.
