Nfl.com has us picking him up at 27. Thoughts? I'm in Toronto so I don't get to see a lot of college ball. And YouTube only shows good things about prospects. So any insight from the zone would be great. Thanks

An absolute stud. Best running back in the nation in my opinion and this is coming from a Husker fan who would love to see Ameer Abdullah with a star on his helmet. Not saying I would be 100% behind this pick but we would be VERY pleased having him running the ball behind this OL.

Great runner but i don't think he fits what Dallas wants to do in their running game. More of a speed guy who is much better outside. I think Dallas would prefer Gurley(1st) or one of the better downhill RBs later in the draft(2nd-3rd)

A knock on him is his receiving skills. But he is a heck of a runner. His acceleration sets him apart. Look forward to seeing how he does at the combine. Compares to Jamaal Charles, but a bit bigger.

This guy is a stud and taking him at the end of the 1st round might be taking the BPA.
But this RB class is pretty deep....so a nice year to grab one if needed.

Imo, the real value at the position is a bit later than the 28th pick.
It wouldn't surprise me if guys like Todd Gurley, for example, goes in the late 2nd or even 3rd round.

In no true order...
Gordon
Gurley
Duke Johnson
Ameer Abdullah
Jay Ajay
Mike Davis
Tevin Coleman
TJ Yeldon
Javorious Allen
and many more.....

The Badgers cant throw. I wont say that Charles should be put in the slot and thrown slants on third down, but all this talk about receiving skills is overblown. He can catch dump offs and screens. I would however be worried a bit about pass protection.

I love Ameer. Reminds me of Ray Rice

I seriously doubt we go RB in the 1st. He's a great player, no doubt, but there are good RB's to be had later in the draft (Yeldon, Coleman, Ajayi, etc.)

I don't see that comparison to be honest. I think he's much more like Larry Johnson.

I did not watch a lot of Wisconsin this year. Can anybody tell me how good their OL was? I know that they had a lot of returning starters along the OL this year but I have no idea how they played this year, in comparison to years past?

Nirvana is right.. He is a combo of Charles and McFadden.

I don't really get the Larry Johnson comparison at all. Johnson was squat, heavier and slower.

No, he wasn't. At Penn State, Larry Johnson was about 6'1" 215 lbs. Melvin Gordon is 6'1" about 210. Watch Johnson early in his career. He could reach the edge. He had decent speed, probably better then Gordon.

He was 228 lbs and ran closer to a 4.5-4.6. Gordon will run around a 4.37

No, he was not 228 at Penn State.

Watch him in the clips. He returned punts and beat guys to the edge when he was young. Did you ever have the opportunity to watch Johnson in College?

I will say this. Gordon isn't going to run a 4.3.

Did you watch the clips? At the beginning they show him [larry J] being drafted and have his weight at 228... During runs they continually call him a big back... They don't say that about Gordon. I saw very little of Johnson in college. But its pretty inherently obvious when one back is known for being big and another is known for being fast, they don't compare well. I will admit Johnson had good speed for a 230 lb back. But Gordon has elite speed. He looks exactly like the love child of J Charles and McFadden. Not quite as quick as Charles and maybe MAYBE a hair slower than McFadden.

I don't know what his combine weight was but look at the link I posted. It's 215 lbs. It's the Penn State link.

Charles was smaller and not as physical a runner as Gordon is, he was lucky if he was 200 lbs at Texas. I don't think Melvin Gordon runs a 4.3. I guess we will find out.

13 seconds into your video, it says Larry Johnsons weight. 228.
Fair enough about the 40. its not necessarily worth arguing about.

Ton of talent at the rb position this year. Be interesting to see how it plays out.
