Waah waah waah. Blah blah blah. Here we go again, now it’s Micah doing this kind of talking with no accolades to back it up. What a joke. Didn’t think this toxic culture would effect him so soon, but here we are. This team’s culture could destroy the best of the bests if given the opportunity.

He's an awesome pass rusher, and the LVE comparison may be a little harsh, but he's got a lot to improve on if they're going to be required to use him as a true LB due to game script. Like he said, teams are going to stick to the run to negate the pass rush until they prove they can stop it.
I think I have been blinded by the generation pass rushing talent Parsons has and overlooked some flaws in his game.

The more I watch him when he's not rushing the QB the more completely average he looks.

2) Sealing off cutback lanes

Other teams seem to understand our defensive assignments & know just how to let our guys go the way they intended and get their blockers in position to seal them off and RB's can just go to town. I'm not sure how but something is tipping them off and they are well prepared to know how to block based on our fronts.

The Cowboys have given up over 200 yards rushing in every game since releasing Trysten Hill after not giving up 200 yards in any game before.. Meanwhile Hill's new team gave up 66 yards rushing in his first game seeing action.
.
Probably just a coincidence though..

LOL.. Yall know I'm kidding right?

Kinda..

I will say this.. earlier in the season most of the damage on the ground was being done on the edges. Yesterday the Packers hit them right in the mouth between the tackles. They never even stopped even after falling behind two screws in the 4th quarter. That's when you know you have a real weakness.. when teams keep going at it even when the score would dictate they shouldn't.

This is going to continue to be a problem for this team.. and frankly I don't know how you address it.. Start Tank and Holston at DE? No matter what people say Parsons can't play DE full time.. He takes too much of a beating there and it's just a matter of time before he gets seriously hurt down there. At some point Quinn is going to have to admit that his 3 safety lineup doesn't work when teams are committed to running right at you. A 215 pound "linebacker" is always going to be a liability against the run. They need to school up Clark VERY quickly. He's faster than Kearse and Wilson anyway and obviously 30 pounds bigger.. He just doesn't know where to go ... yet.

I think some of that can be attributed to the fact that that's mainly what they've had him doing, rushing the passer. Now that teams are sticking with the run to neutralize that, he's essentially playing out of position. He's definitely got all the tools to be a monster LB. Rushing the passer will always be a strength for him, but I have to think the rest of his game can improve. Have to keep in mind this is only year 1.5 for him. LVE is what he is, he's not getting any better than this.

The answer is typically somewhere in between. For the Cowboys and I haven't watched yesterdays game nearly enough to say what the problem with the run defense was, but all year this defense has struggled heavily in two areas:

1) Outside runs / edge containment
2) Sealing off cutback lanes

Both of those are heavily an issue of gap containment and playing team defense. I'll go back and rewatch that game this week, and would bet it's a lot of the same issues. A lot of the time you dont keep gap integrity because you lose at POA, but I see a lot of undisciplined players running around, which seems to be the main thing Parsons is hitting on.
Nice thanks.

For me, the difference is if it’s able to be fixed during the season with adjustments and/or better discipline. If the players just stink, can’t really fix that until March. Well, May in our case.

“No one is going to allows us just to rush, no one is going to allow us to be who we are,” said Parsons, the team’s leading sacker who spent more time playing run defense than rushing the passer against the Packers. “We got to put out this fire. Until we take out this fire, we are going to keep seeing it. If people want to keep doing their own thing, we are going to deal with this all year. We have to put this out. We have to be accountable. We have to stay in our gaps. We have to stop the run. Until we do that, it’s going to be a long year.”
Long year indeed !

Don’t see much changing due to our lack of DT and LBr talent.

Might need to stack the box a little more and take our chances on the outside.

I know this post was made to be educational to a certain degree, however, I can’t help but laugh. All the people on this forum do are offer “solutions” and potential problem solvers as if this team is ever going to do anything related to fixing itself. I don’t even know why you guys waste your time. Football players adjust. Clowns perform the same nasty, ridiculous jokes for every con job they participate in.

How about the combo of Micha, Williams, Clark. They at least seem to have the speed to close faster than the current setup with LVE

Is this more of a gap containment thing vs just getting beat at the POA?

Maybe some of you XO guys can elaborate on who the culprits may be.

I think we're mostly just getting handled at the POA. Then when desperation kicks in, some guys will start cheating. But the underlying issue is getting whipped up front and/or not having LBs aggressively filling the gaps.

Great observation. The way multiple teams are doing this, there has to be some key they are all following re tendencies / formations we use re down/distance...

A lot folks just mindlessly think it due to the fat guys in the middle.

Maybe they should have kept Trysten Hill.

I can't help but wonder if Hill might not have handled being inactive for the Detroit game as well as he should have. His maturity issues are well documented and given that he was the most productive of all our DTs on a per snap basis I could certainly see him mouthing off about being shelved and that rubbing the coaches the wrong way. Even if he was right.

There's no quick fix. The team had the entire offseason to address the glaring weakness after all the talk post playoff loss to San Fran. Here we are a season later and things are looking worse than before.
