I appreciate it. Brutal to have to do that 2 days after Christmas. It was even more brutal on the family that we believe this stemmed from an “accident” at the vet 8 weeks ago. He apparently had fallen off the table at the vet, and they had given us mixed stories but he had hit his head.

He just was never the same.

I can’t even stay focused at work. And every time I come home, it is killing me inside that he’s not there to greet me like always.

Just brutal to deal with. I’m not a guy who cries, but I think I shed enough tears this week for a lifetime. Just hope that he knows how much our family cherished him.

Help us get the W tonight, Toby. He was always by my side when watching Cowboys games.

Ugh. I need to leave this thread…
Sorry to drag you back into the thread, but you need to think about one thing: I know from experience that the worst part is feeling like you betrayed his trust, but first of all, it's not true. You did for him what you'd hope someone would do for you. Second, he would know you didn't betray him, and I promise the thought never entered his mind. He left this world knowing you loved him as much as he loved you.

I’m running out of tears but from the bottom of my heart, I seriously appreciate this. Thank you.

I’m telling people this is text the way you play. Did you fight with your girlfriend, or bunch of stuff?

I've never had a dog - well, for one day then my mom returned it to my uncle. But I appreciate you all sharing your experiences with your pet dogs.

We are burdened with making life decisions for our dogs.

I lost a dog a while back....because of a poor decision a vet made, and advised me on. I blamed myself for so long...and the Vet too....

If this just happened a few days ago....you simply have a stretch of time you're gonna have to suffer through. Just mentally circle a day in the spring, and know you will be much better by then...though it will be a "scar you carry" maybe forever. But you will recover, but no way to avoid the first horrible 2 weeks, and the first painful month. You're already a few days through it though

Thanks, lad, for this post and the touching responses from dog lovers.
500 likes is impressive.
Nothing wrong with reminding us the more important things in life other than 300 freaks colliding with each other and receivers prancing like they haven't been there before.
