Yeah, very kind natured, easygoing dogs. I think most dogs are though, but my boxers were a riot.

I had Emmitt trained so well I could fart, blame it on him, and he would then leave the room. I'd pull him out of his shame and reassure after dying of laughter. Lol.
They can slobber really well they are good at it Not as bad as a St Bernard or MASTIF but they have a lot of drooling going on

My son had to put down a Labradoodle who was 2 and a half years old. He was born with a defective kidney that ultimately failed.

It's never easy to put down a dog. But to lose one so young and full of life is especially difficult

We are considering a second dog to give our 2 yr old lab amstaff mix a companion...my oldest son said he thought it was a bad idea. I asked him why and he said he didn't want to go through losing another dog again ( he said he wouldnt get a dog for that reason alone...he took the loss of our last dog exceptionally hard.

I know this sounds crazy, but the reason I haven't bought a dog is because their lifespan is relatively short and I'm worried about the pain of losing it. I've seen friends and co-workers lose it over their pets. My boss was inconsolable once. I really want a toy poodle or a shih tzu. Maybe I'll go for it.

I just posted my son's similar response...while the pain of losing them hurts, the good times and memories you build with a dog far outweigh the pain of losing them.

Where is the ‘cry like a baby’ emoji when you need it?

Me and my dog are homeys for life.
I use to hate Chihuahuas but my wife adopted 2 of those little yappers 10 years ago you do not need a door bell if you own one And those 2 little guys think they are Pit Bulls They will defend you with their life if thy have to

Many people don't understand the love and care and support that fur babies provide and it is unconditional. I had the most beautiful golden brown/black German Shepherd for 15 years and his favorite game was catching a tennis ball i would bounce in the air. From a young puppy to a grand mature dog that made him the happiest. So i understand what Micah is going through. They do become part of the family.

Yeah, losing a pet can really hit kids hard especially if they are really young and dont understand the whole life and death stuff yet.

I have had friends that are first time parents ask me about what pets are the best to get for their kids and I always tell them this. If your kids are really young, get them a small pet like a goldfish or a hamster or even a small rabbit.

Reason is because when they die you can swap them out for another that looks almost identical, and your young kids will never notice. Then when they get older you can get them a cat or a dog or a pony or whatever.

Get your dog, lass.
The love shown to you by whatever dog will be true, forever love. They are wired to love and protect their masters. You won't regret it.

I had a Spaniel Shih Tzu mix for 15 years Looked like a stubby legged spaniel he was a great dog if you had a ball in your hand he loved you He just disappeared one day never to be seen again He actually sat down in the recliner with me and watched TV with me sitting up on his butt with his paw on the recliner arm like he was human Still miss him his name was Shorty He adopted our 1st grand daughter and would lay down next to her in her baby hamper and protect her If someone he did not know approached her he let them know it was not a good idea When I adopted him brought him home in my T-shirt pocket His mom died and a potbelly momma pig adopted him I think he thought he was a pig he snorted like a pig when he was happy Still miss him

You don't have ANY idea how much I needed this thread right now...it's making me realize that I'm not alone. We had to put our little dog down 3 weeks ago, and me and the wife are just gutted beyond belief. I am home alone during the day, and look for ANY reason to be out of the house....and then when I do get back home, I just lose it. My prayers are with anyone ever having to go through this...not sure that I can ever go through it again.
My condolences, brother.

My 1ST grand daughter defiantly noticed the loss of our dog Shorty she loved him and still misses him He was her in house baby sitter He was about 3 months old when she was born on her 1 st visit with us he snuggled up to her and kinda stated my baby
