Micah is a great player, but what exactly is he great at? What does he need to work on to be elite?

That's great, congrats to him, it's not hard to overthink that we could get more out of him. Who cares about being all pro when your constantly only doing well in the pre season, and not going further in the playoffs etc!
The same thing could be said for Zack Martin, and for a longer period of time. No one ever did though until he was over the hill. Funny that.

This thread is insane. No matter how you want to slice it, Micah is an ultra-elite pass rusher. Sacks, QB hits, pressures, pass rush win rate, double team rate, chip rate... he's literally at the top of every category. Offenses dedicate extra resources to stopping him on 50% of their passing snaps, and Micah beats those extra blockers anyway. He's a 3x All-Pro, and would have made it 4 if he didn't miss four games this season.

What's he great at? Getting to QBs, period. He's like Hall of Fame great at it.

he has skills, but he is selfish and he is not a leader. he has too many outside interests and his goal is to get to the next contract. he disappears in big games and he only shows up against weaker opponents and he has quit on the team already this year.

trade his arse. get as many picks as possible. look at Detroit. they traded their biggest asset and now rebuilt and look like the top contender in NFC.

however, Jerry won't do it. no way. no how. Parsons was tops in the league in jersey sales in 2023

btw, Dak prescot was 5th!!!!! so that explains the 60M contract to jerry.

to jerry those will be and are investments that will pay for themselves..... if neither wasn't in the top 20, neither would get a new large contract.
What? What is he supposed to do, sit around and watch film all day?

How many outside interest do you have and does others feel it effects your job?

Didn't fans complain about Romo for his golf, and other things he did.
Maybe he needs to tear down his house, rebuild, and put in a football field to have the defense over to practice.
All the time the offense is practicing on the property of another house that has been torn down. Only for it not to do any good.

When you throw dollar signs and now potential dollar signs around, people get all loopy. We've been waiting for a war daddy for a long time, we luck into one, and now people want to hate on him because he's going to get paid like one. Helluva drug whatever they're on.

He needs to be like Sean Lee, a captain, be able to put other players in the right position. That’s when he will become truly elite.

I need to break this down if you don't mind...... Elaborate, so when you saying making more impact plays, I think this is the issue some are not seeing from him, a force fumble, a big play on a key down to get us the ball, strip etc etc, doesn't mean he's bad because he doesn't do that, just something that with being that highly paid of a player you'd expect to see more of these kind of plays made.......... Elaborate if you will
Not just QB pressures. More impact plays like sacks, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, TFL.

Even regular tackles. In 59 regular season games his has 160 tackles (less than 3 per game).

Wow, what's good enough for Micah (overrated) wasn't for Dak.
I'd trade Micah, because as with the Dak argument, we aren't going to compete in the next possibly 3 years.
here is where we agree.....but we both know, Micah isn't going anywher. he is the top selling jersey in NFL last year. he still is top 20 and financially that's all that matters to Jerry.

no, my point isn't that he shouldn't have outside interets. but its priority....during the season, focus on football. football only. Manning, brady, etc. were famous for their film study. preparation. extra work, etc. they practically lived in the facilities. but Micah has a podcase he has to get ready for each week. that takes time and focus. it just doesn't happen by itself. yes he has help, everyone does. you have a team, but you also have to focus on that team. and prepare.

and yes, Romo played golf...in OFF SEASON. not during the season, except for his trop to cabo at a critical time when cowboys were struggling....that didn't go over well with fans.

I just don't see micah as someone who transends football, breaths, eats, drinks, sleeps football. he is here to make money and enjoy it. nothing wrong with that, so trade him. get lots of picks. and use it to reload the team. we need draft picks. we need players.....

He is elite at rushing the passer. He is one of the best in the NFL at it. That is incredibly valuable.

If you’re worried about defending the run game, I get it. But the real issue there is lack of DTs and LBs. Not Micah.

Any idea that Micah Parsons is not already elite just seems silly to me. Hes not even through season four yet as has the following numbers:

53 sacks, 220 hurries, 62 hits on the QB in 1730 snaps

To compare here is Myles Garretts first four years

45 sacks, 127 hurries, 44 hits on the QB in 1791 snaps

TJ Watt had

54 sacks, 131 hurries, 65 hits on the QB in 1790 snaps

We can complain about his run defense and in years past I would have been the first to do so, but in 2024 he has been significantly better in the run game. We can debate if he is a great leader, we can debate how bad his podcast is, and we can debate if its smart to make him the highest paid defender of all time, but I don't think its debatable that his numbers are in the elite territory.

I think the issue with your lack of playoff success probably doesn’t lie primarily with your all world pass rusher.

The rest of the roster sucks. Not that hard to see.

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I don't think he's that great. Above average, yes, but Lawrence Taylor greatness? Not even remotely close.
