Cowboys DE Micah Parsons said there's no question he wants to remain in Dallas. "I called upon the star. I landed on it, and I'm grateful. I feel like I got one of the best jobs in America."

Parsons on wanting to get his next contract done as soon as possible:

"I don't want to hold anybody up. I want to see some of these (free agents) back in this locker room. We have a great opportunity. I want to see change. I want to see players here. I want to be as aggressive as we can be. I don't want to be a headache to nobody."

of course you have the best job in america: one drive and then disappearing for the rest of the game.

please would you just shut up and leave you one trick phony.

Its hard to believe people are still falling for Jerry's lame excuse. Look around the league. Other teams manage to have homegrown talent and still be active in FA. Take a long look at the Eagles cap situation and tell me we can't sign anyone.
Right. We'll be creating space with an automatic restructure for Dak. We can also restructure other contracts. Anything we want to do in free agency, we can do. However, the Joneses don't do anything because they don't believe in spending on outside FAs. It's as simple as that.

He plans to talk to Jerry on Friday.

Outstanding.

1) Super Bowl.

2) The great roster I've assembled just has to play better.

3) We just have to stay healthy.

4) I'll be on my yacht until April.

He won't do much with Dak's cap hit. Jerry didn't have to put that giant cap hit in year 1 of his extension. He did it because they had a lot of cap space, and it would deal with a large portion of Dak's contract right away.

What Jerry needs to do is get on this quickly. Sign him to a fair, team-friendly deal, and as a reward sign a couple of nice FAs that will get us right back in the mix!

Hahahahaha. Jerry will milk this for attention through September and we will sign the Jet's 3rd string LG as our big FA signing.
I don't see any scenario where paying Parsons will be team friendly. Especially since they wasted one of his rookie seasons they could have used in his extension. That's going to make the cap hits much less friendly.

Don't agree. Dak has a $47 million base this year. It's his highest base until year 5 of the deal. It is set up to be restructured. Now, it doesn't have to be, but that's why the contracts are structured the way they are.

Micah will soon be just as frustrated as those of us that are sick and tired of Jerry's BS

Parsons needs to put a clause in his contract allowing him to seek a trade if Jerry doesn't start bringing in some decent players in free agency to help him.
Things are better in 2026.

the Martin, DLaw, Cooks, and Gallup money are mostly gone Also.

Micah will get 40 million per and then the defense will be in a similar spot as the offense. One player taking up half the cap allotted to that side of the ball. That roster build doesn’t allow for aggression in the free agent market.
Truth.

its tight. Dak is eating a ton of cap $$$.

fans on here are mad, but the math doesn’t work.

looking at a lot of FAs at league minimum. Just to fill out the roster.

Well yes, but after his poor form in the 8 games he played and then the injury WITH possible effects on his already marginal flexibility, is it wise to heavily restructure that Base Salary, especially if there is a potential to Post June cut him in 2026, or cut in 2027?

Part of that is subject to interest from other teams....im sure the O-Line's of Baltimore and Phil had a bearing upon Barkley and Henry's destination. Im not averse to looking at FA, indeed a Robinson/Stanley or other LT would be may want, but imagine the price (especially with the poor Tackle Draft this forthcoming year)......but the other problem is how do we improve EVERY area of need in Free Agency, when we are lacking in pretty much EVERY area.

Id take Micah's words as a declaration about the team and somewhat put Daks contract (length) to shame....what a difference Dak could of made if he'd had the same approach (again, length of contract). Indeed the answer back to Micah would be, we build around you.....give us a long contract and we'll use that CAP to bolster your pass-rush pack and D-Line.

I'll wait a year and reflect.
Spot on, splashing out on elite contracts and hoping they pan out didnt work out in 2024 and we dont know what we've got in 2025, especially with the number of players with possible performance effecting injuries: Diggs and Dak...... I'd want to evaluate where we are.

Have the Eagles ever traded away 'elite'/Star player, do they extend EVERY player they can? Totally different model and they're not obsessive with the Annual Relevancy' and they can get players to sign longer (restructure contracts) as they dont care about the future (which is surprising that the Octogenarian does!!)

If you want the Eagles situation we need to start trading, indeed, the main offseason issue (other than 'that' contract) was that Jerry didnt do a full reset by trading anyone of even limited value: Zack (taking CAP hit), Osa, J-Lew, Cooks, Ferguson.

We are facing the 'double trouble', in the very near future, of:
1) Massive elite contracts: Dak, CeeDee, Micah, Tyler (on LT money) and Bland
2) A massive drop off as the poor/very poor 2023 and 2024 Drafts Fail to provide even average starters (especially with Overshown's two serious injuries).

We're left in no-man's land of: under achieving elite contracts and a need to pay over the top in free agency (or go the JAG ROUTE) as we need to many holes to fill. This is the 'problem' of the viewpoint, we have the CAP, in theory YES, but in practice you cant just add.

Micah can take less and Stephen would still say he can't afford to pay anyone else. If Micah takes 20/year instead of 30 do they could sign Osa or another DT and they don't, how do you think Micah would feel? It's a bit harder for NFL agents to orchestrate player movement with the NFL's hard cap vs what NBA agents do.

Exactly and they have even more star power signed as well as 350 million in void year money spent. They are using the caps liquid nature to manipulate the numbers and remain aggressive.
