Micah is ready to re-sign and wants the front office to be aggressive in the offseason

He needs a cap calculator.

even if they extend him before March, it’s not enough $$$.

there is a ton of dead, void, and Dak money on the 2026 cap.

Its hard to believe people are still falling for Jerry's lame excuse. Look around the league. Other teams manage to have homegrown talent and still be active in FA. Take a long look at the Eagles cap situation and tell me we can't sign anyone.

He’s always running his mouth. He’s too small to be a DE. He only play DE because pass rushers make the most money. He’s gotta be the worst run stopping DE in the nfl. How does a team expect to win in playoffs having a way undersized DE who is a sieve vs the run? Being really good on pass plays and really bad on run plays is too much volatility to pay him as the highest paid defender in the nfl. Mailata going to throw him around like a rag doll for the duration of that contract.

Sure he didn’t give much of a hometown discout, but he didn't become the highest paid WR when he signed, so he didn't really push for the "brotherhood" either. Especially since he is closer to being one of the best WR's in the league than Dak is at QB. And everyone, including Dak if he's being honest, knows that.

So to me, no really. (IMHO of course)
So the heartache is because Dak became the highest paid, not paid his market value? For a short moment, Trevor Lawrence, on potential, became the highest paid QB, alongside Joe Burrow & Jordan Love......no problem, other than a SB coach just got fired and Trevor Lawrence, shall we say, hasn't lived up to the billing. Jordan Love reaped benefits off of beating us and potential too. Dak contract came after all this, when Jerry could have jumped on that all summer. The same with Cee Dee's to avoid missing training camp and I don't fault Cee Dee one bit for missing camp.

Would you have been ok, if Dak got $56M?......given Jerry had ample time to satisfy Dak & Agent with market value and the fact Dak & Agent certainly reminded Jerry about finishing 2nd in MVP race the prior year, not just the playoff loss.

As for hometown discounts.....that part amazes me. We expect players to be sympathetic to an owner who said "All-in" and hoodwinked everybody. Hmmm.

Cowboys DE Micah Parsons said there's no question he wants to remain in Dallas. "I called upon the star. I landed on it, and I'm grateful. I feel like I got one of the best jobs in America."

Parsons on wanting to get his next contract done as soon as possible:

"I don't want to hold anybody up. I want to see some of these (free agents) back in this locker room. We have a great opportunity. I want to see change. I want to see players here. I want to be as aggressive as we can be. I don't want to be a headache to nobody."

Parsons needs to put a clause in his contract allowing him to seek a trade if Jerry doesn't start bringing in some decent players in free agency to help him.

They can restructure deals at any time too.

Odds are, they still believe in Dak and will restructure his deal at some point.
CDL deal will get restructured, which will easily allow for Parsons deal.

Say Parsons isn't gunning for 40mil AAV, but wants a little more than Bosa's 34mil AAV.
180 mil over 5 years.
Say Dallas gives him 55mil signing bonus(5 more than Bosa).
His 2025 cap hit becomes 1.2mil base+ 11mil signing bonus for a cap hit at 12.2mil. Hell, that could fit now without a restructure of anyones deal. .
His guaranteed 5th year money gets included in his total guarantees. The contract could be 5th year + 4 extension years or 5th year +5 additional years and the 2025 cap hit is the same. Sure, they will add void years regardless.

This will be fun to watch. He is putting the pressure on them to get it done and sign some players.
This is what Dak could of done, during his negotiation, forsaking the opportunities that will present himself as a 35 year old free agency in exchange for a career ending contract, with assurances on spending.

LOL, I kind of like this. Micah is basically cutting Jerry off at the knees here by saying he wants to sign now.

Jerry and Stephen always used the fog of negotiations to explain why they would wait so long to sign guys, trying to argue it was as much a players decision as it was ours.

Micah is saying screw that, I want to sign now, I want to help create cap space and I want you to get some free agents. Well played, Micah, well played.

Stephen "cap boy" is not likely to do anything. Jerry has a birds eye view on this stuff imho, this is all Stephen.

Having said this, Micah is going to be sorely disappointed in what Jerry does.

I suspect they will drag their feet on an extension, you'll see some key guys/depth run out the door and we'll add no one of value in FA and Jerry will wax on about how great our draft and young players are.

Prepare yourself, Micah. You are not going to be happy.

Yeah, nobody can live off 20 million a year.
This isn't the point, people can live off $15k a year.

If Micah accept's $20M his closest comp makes $15m+/yr more than him, and JJ has a track record to not be active in free agency. Why give that kind of discount? JJ hasnt earned that level of respect.

Jerry sat on his hands when Dak was making $1M/yr and he'll do the same with a Micah discount.

Micah will get 40 million per and then the defense will be in a similar spot as the offense. One player taking up half the cap allotted to that side of the ball. That roster build doesn’t allow for aggression in the free agent market.

You can blame your owner GM also for this. Jerry was the biggest reason we have a "Cap" system in the NFL....
