The players here absolutely love Elliott. I think he was a good locker-room guy. It's only here that he gets branded as trash. I wish him well, except when he plays us.
I don't think anyone would have complained about Zeke as much at a $5 or 6 million price tag. He took up another starting level player salary and he certainly wasn't good enough to do that.

He was also excessively played when there was a better option on the bench in most situations the last couple of years.. and it was mostly because his salary pushed the powers at be to make sure he plays. Everyone knows that. Would've looked bad on the Jones's had Zeke been officially benched as a starter because of Pollard.

With that said, I hope it works out for him in NE. He may have another year or so left but we'll see.

I didn't think he deserved $5 or $6 million based on last season. Don't have any problem with the team cutting him. I only have a problem with the plan to replace him ... it's similar to our plan to replace Amari Cooper last year and we saw how that worked out.

Well one injury to Pollard and it will be scary. I'd prefer a real vet option with Deuce+Pollard. Makes more sense than Dowdle or Davis.

It's not trash, it was a complete overvalue from the front office and his cap hit, and how that effected everything from Pollards usage and other backs, to Jerry's ridiculous love affair with his superstar RB. It killed this team more than it helped. Not Zeke's fault but the feed me routine was definitely an issue. There's a pretty big area between "great RB" and "Trash".. Zeke falls somewhere in between. If fans don't talk about how amazing he was he must be trash. Good.. yes. Way overrated by this owner.. hell yes.

No. There are some on here who literally have called him trash. They do not believe he falls in between. I think he was in the great back territory his first year, but fell off from that, having some very good years that tailed off the last few years primarily due to injuries. I also think he's at the point in his career where his body just can't handle the pounding anymore to hold up for a full season. It would surprise me if he could be a bell-cow anymore without breaking. Of course, I don't think he'll be asked to be one in New England. He can be a hammer in limited use and probably still be pretty effective at it.

Belichick will go with a platoon approach at RB and keep Zeke fresh. Zeke has no shot at reaching the incentives in the deal and will not be a Patriot in 2024.

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit of Zeke has a great year. Belichick will have him running and positions to succeed. NE has always run the ball well with subpar RBs and underrated OL play. I would imagine Zeke knows he has to prove himself now.. I believe he will.

Calling him trash is ridiculous. And definitely in those first 3 years he was considered great. But I wouldn't put his full 7 year career in that category. Limited use and preservation would've helped him tremendously. Unfortunately that's not how Jerry treated that situation.
